Greetings!
Just a quick note on this busy April 15 to let you know about three recent Rockmore developments.
#1)We just completed our 2nd You Tube Video from our visit with Manny Greer in New York. Manny and his brother David ran The Greer Gallery in NYC where Rockmore exhibited from 1961-1967. Manny is 85 and in great shape and shares some fascinating stories about Rockmore and the New York art scene. His interview includes some near death experiences and a personal account of how Jackson Pollock might have survived his death if not for fate. Tee Marvindid some major editing of this impromptu video session which includes all the city sounds (dogs, doors, cars, etc.).
#2) Noel Rockmore & Gladys Rockmore Davis (his mother) and Floyd Davis (his father) are all on these Wikipedia links now. Unfortunately, Rich made a mistake in using The Noel Rockmore Project as our Wikipedia posting User name which is a big no-no and Noel's page became a target of the deletionist (versus the inclusionist) volunteers who run Wikipedia. Thus, Noel has several warnings on his site (some warranted and some not) due to Rich's mistake making Noel a target. Rich's only consolation is that if anybody would understand having trouble with not fitting in the system, Noel would.
#3) The On The Noel Rockmore Trail blog has been updated with pictures of our recent visit last week to New Orleans. It includes a recap of The 11th Annual Bill Russell Lecture/performance on George Lewis put on by The Historic New Orleans Collection. It also includes a recount of an adventure called Keeping Up with the little old ladies .... featuring Shirley Marvin (87), Gypsy Lou Webb (92) and Rita Posselt's mother Ruby. * Excerpt.... and I started to gather the group to go but some insisted they wanted just one more beer. Little old ladies can pound them down, who knew?
Good luck today fitting in with the system!
