Please consider signing the petition to help bring change to Boy Scout Association.
My name is Jennifer Tyrrell. I am a devoted partner, mother, friend and community leader in Bridgeport, Ohio. I'm also a former Tiger Cub den leader with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). I was recently removed from this volunteer position, and my membership was revoked after nearly a year of service - just because I happen to be gay. There was an outcry of support for me by the parents of my Tiger Scouts, many of whom waited for hours to voice their concerns to members of the council and the pack's charter organization, but were turned away without the opportunity to do so.
Shortly after registering my son for Cub Scouts, I was asked to assume the role of den leader and was persuaded by a platform of tolerance, acceptance and support. The revocation of my membership came shortly after I was elected treasurer of my pack and uncovered some inconsistencies in the pack's finances. Within a week of reporting these findings to the council, I received notice that my membership had been revoked, based on my sexual orientation, citing that because I'm gay, I did "not meet the high standards of membership that the BSA seeks."
Jennifer's petition is linked to the image above.

QYou
Alex Finlay
Who are you? I'm a fourth year US Politics major interested in becoming a US history high school teacher. Aside from that, I am interested in animals rights and sexual politics. As a supervisor at both the Porter Dining Hall and the Owl's Nest, I devote my energy to creating a diverse, inclusive and cruelty-free menu to encourage a sustainable lifestyle.
What is it that led you to becoming interested in dietary inclusivity? Well, as a ten year vegetarian/vegan, I have a personal investment in inclusiveness. Aside from my own interest, working in food service has made me realize how important it is to create a meal to provide for the maximum amount of people. I look for ways of making dishes vegan, gluten free and/or nut free as often as possible to ensure that customers have maximum options.
Oops, Megan Woods's photo from our Apr 9 to Apr 15 issue did not come through. Here is the photo that would have appeared! _____________________

QReview
All The Rage
Suzanne Danuta Walters' All the Rage is a readable and engaging overview of gay and lesbian cultural visibility in recent years. It discusses a variety of perspectives (including cinema, television, advertising, and Walters' own personal accounts of being a lesbian parent), takes a middle-of-the-road view that cultural visibility, while good, does not necessarily imply progress in achieving rights, and argues that growing cultural visibility for gays and lesbians has coincided with increasing effort to impede progress toward said rights.
