Hartford, CT -- April 15, 2010 - Ethnic Marketing Solutions, Inc. a Hartford, Connecticut based multicultural marketing agency, announced today the launching of its seventh Latinas & Power Symposium taking place on Thursday, May 13th, from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM at the Hilton Hartford Hotel, 315 Trumbull Street, Hartford, Connecticut.

"The business environment has catapulted many women into positions of leadership and Latinas are finding their way up that ladder as well," stated Ms. Marilyn Alverio, principal of Ethnic Marketing Solutions and producer of the event. She continued by saying: "At the Latinas & Power Symposium, we create a platform for women to witness leadership in action via the top-notch speakers and panelists we bring. This is also a forum for corporations to meet Latinas who are braking the glass ceiling or are well on their way to accomplishing this."

Indeed the Seventh Annual Latinas & Power Symposium will be a showcase of Latinas who have excelled - not only within their community - but in mainstream markets nationwide. On top of the list of speakers is Ms. Yasmin Davidds, an international best-selling author and empowerment specialist whose philosophy embraces teaching people from all walks of life on how to live empowering lives.

Another honoree will be Ms. Esmeralda Santiago, renowned author in both English and Spanish who will soon launch her next book, Conquistadora, along with a mini-series based on the story.

Our Reason to Relay

Fighting cancer is a team effort. The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone.

At the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer. By joining or donating to our team, you will be a part of a life-changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Please make a donation, or join our team and help us create a world where cancer can no longer claim another year of anyone's life.

The NYCLGBTCC has partner with Relay For Life for the LGBT Community and Friends. I want all our members and partner to join us on the fight against cancer. And in honor of all our friends and family who has or have cancer in any shape and form. This is our way in honoring them. Please give and support us on this fight. Lets show Relay for Life that we really do care. You can click on the logo and it will direct you to our page. Come and be part of a caring team.

Dear, NYCLGBTCC's Members & Partners:

Sometimes it feels like 1986 was just a few days ago. It seems that both my "brother" Craig Harris and my college buddy Lorraine were alive and well. Craig, an AIDS activist and writer, was already sick; Lorraine, the first person I knew to have AIDS had already died. There were no HIV medications. Ryan White, a sick teenager is barred from attending public school. There was no Minority AIDS funding or Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS. No AIDS Rides. No Dance-a-Thons. No Day of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS. Dennis deLeon was an inspiring brilliant attorney, working with the Manhattan Borough President, the Honorable David Dinkins. It would be seven years before Tom Hanks would star in Philadelphia. The first AIDS-themed play, The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer, had a successful run on Broadway. We all proclaim that Silence equals Death.

There was very, very little hope.

There was however, GMHC. We provided information and comfort, held hands and protest signs, and walked our first AIDS Walk. Much has transpired in the ensuing 25 years. We still provide life saving information; hold more hands than ever, challenge policy that foster HIV infection among gay and other disenfranchised people. We walk with friends and family, alongside corporate sponsors and school teams. We walk proudly behind our clients who live in dignity and in memory of those we have lost.

Help GMHC continue to make a difference. Join our team. Make a donation. Send this email to a friend. Help me reach my $25,000 goal. To visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support AIDS Walk New York you can click to the picture logo and it will direct you to my page.

Thank You!
