Dear Member of the Arts & Humanities Community,
As you know, the annual Montgomery County Executive's Ball helps support organizations that improve the quality of life in Montgomery County. Historically, these have been arts and humanities organizations. The Executive's Ball will continue its support of the County Executive's Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities and the awarding of grants.
In the spirit of expanding our support to the broader community at a time of ongoing financial cutbacks, the beneficiary of the 2011 Executive's Ball will be the Montgomery County Public Libraries system in recognition of its 60th anniversary. "The Arts and Humanities Council is pleased that this year's funds will benefit the Public Libraries system, a worthy recipient and essential member of the County's arts and humanities community," notes Suzan Jenkins, CEO of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC).
Funds raised will supplement the system's programs and services, including the much-needed acquisition of new books and media for the county's 21 libraries, which last year had nearly 9 million in-person visits.
The County's library system is the backbone of arts and humanities in our community and a critical source of ongoing learning for residents of Montgomery County. For many it is their only opportunity to have access to computers. Also many of our arts and cultural organizations perform and hold events in library facilities.
We thank you for your consideration in joining us in this vital effort. Please Save the Date for the upcoming Awards at Strathmore Music Hall on Monday, October 24, 2011 and the Executive's Ball on Sunday December 4, 2011.
Most sincerely,
Catherine Mary
