Presented by Bethesda Urban Partnership

 

The Bethesda Art Walk features galleries and studios who stay open late on the second Friday of every month. Downtown Bethesda galleries showcase artwork created locally, nationally and internationally including painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Participating galleries are open from 6-9pm, with many hosting opening receptions for new exhibits. Free guided tours will take place Sept. 10 & Oct. 9. Tours begin at 6:30pm and meet at the Bethesda Metro Station.

His mission takes on a sinister twist as the lives of Ripley and young Richard Greenleaf become inextricably entwined , with murder the only way out. Helen Hayes Award winner Karl Miller is Ripley, an intelligent, suave, charming psychopath, in this explosive thriller. Round House is the first regional theatre in the country to have this gripping play on its stage. Music Director Marin Alsop leads the BSO in excerpts from the highly anticipated programs featured in the 2010-2011 season. BSO-Peabody Bruno Walter Assistant Conductor Ilyich Rivas debuts with the BSO in Mahler’s “Blumine” from Symphony No. 1.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia: Paintings by Samina Ali Akhtar

On display through Tuesday, September 14

Presented by Gandhi Memorial Center

This collection of paintings by Samina Ali Akhtar will be on display from September 1 -14, 2010. Samina holds a master degree in Fine Arts from the University of The Punjab and has lectured at the post graduate level both at the University and National College of Arts. Her work shows a strong melding of the historic images and the Islamic motives with the formal arrangement of form, color and texture, worked out in the Cubist collage technique of overlapping planes of color and pattern.
