Voices at Work |
|
Although the Chorale's next performance isn't
until May 3 (helping VocalEssence celebrate
its 40th
anniversary), we're anything but idle. Kathy
Saltzman Romey and the singers are busily
rehearsing our spring
programs with
orchestra. First comes Jennifer Higdon's
The
Singing Rooms (May 21 and 22),
co-commissioned by the Minnesota Orchestra
and completed in 2007. And our season finale
(June 11-13) is Beethoven's radiant Missa
Solemnis, one of the most demanding works
in the choral repertoire. Tickets for all
these programs are in short supply; reserve
yours now by calling 612.371.5656.

An Evening of Magic |
|
Do you believe in magic?
A near-capacity
crowd at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis on
February 21st certainly did--and they gave
the Chorale's Minneapolis
Youth Chorus ovation after ovation in
its first self-produced concert. Led by
founding director Patrice Arasim and
accompanied by Walter Tambor, MYC was joined
by the women of the Chorale, conductor Kathy
Romey, and the Fairlanes doo-wop quartet for
a program that had something for everyone.
Refreshments followed, and more than $500 was
raised to support the work of MYC. If you
missed this performance, don't fret: you'll
have many more opportunities to connect with
MYC. There's a lot more magic in these kids'
future.
