Happy New Year, everyone!
January is here and things are picking up at Land's Sake... - seeds are being ordered - equipment is being repaired - firewood is being delivered - our winter education programs are beginning, and - we are preparing for the start of the maple season.
The winter has also given us time to reflect. With the help of our terrific Board and a few of our friends, we have been busy identifying ways to strengthen Land's Sake and ensure that we continue to grow. Plans and dreams are taking shape. We want to hear from you too! Please read on for ways you can share your thoughts with us and continue supporting the work we do here.

Public Forum

The forum is part of an organizational assessment of Land's Sake led by Pat Gray, former director of The Food Project in
Lincoln and our Board. We are very grateful for our Board's incredible dedication and to Pat for her perspective and expertise in this process. If you are unable to attend the forum, you may still participate via our online survey. Two participants will win a $50 Land's Sake gift certificate. Maple season is almost here!
 Cold nights and warm days make the sap flow in maple sugar trees all across New England. Here at Land's Sake, we love the winter for this reason. Our long-standing Maple Sugar operation not only produces delicious maple syrup, but also provides fun educational opportunities for kids and adults alike. Come join us! Tapping OutSaturday, February 6, 10am-1pmmeet up location TBDRSVP by Feb. 3: dave@landssake.orgKick off the maple sugaring season by helping us tap approximately 200 maple trees around Weston. Bring your family out for this fun event! Please arrive on time for a tapping demonstration and a group assignment. Teams will be sent to various locations across town to tap trees together. Afterwards, we will meet for hot cocoa and cookies at our Bill McElwain Sugar House. Maximum attendance is 50 people and an RSVP is required. Also, if possible, please bring a power drill and 5/16" drill bit. Maple Tours

maple sugaring process during our fun, educational Sugar House tours. Tree tapping, wood splitting, boiling and
bottling are all explained in educational and interactive ways.
Our tours also include a discussion of the historical
importance of sugaring in New England. Ideal for school groups, Scout troops, and others groups. Spots fill up quickly! For more information, email greenpower@landssake.orgMiddle schoolers, come help us make maple sugar! Work alongside us to identify and tap maple trees, gather sap, and boil and bottle our syrup. It's fun and you get paid! Then, at the Sugaring Off festival you get to be the experts and lead tours of the Sugar House. Parents, our Sugar House is located on the campus of the Weston Middle School. Our program is a great opportunity to get your kids outside, earning money and learning the science and history of maple sugaring in New England.

"Splitting wood warms you twice" Join
the Land's Sake Forestry crew for a morning of wood splitting in the
Highland St. Forest. It's a great way to learn about our sustainable
forestry practices, see a tree felling demonstartion, enjoy some hot
cocoa, and get a great workout. Please wear boots, dress warmly and bring
water.
To get here, park near the back of the Meadowbrook School athletic
fields near the corner of Rt. 30 and Highland St. There is a plowed
gravel road that leads back to the gate to the forests. Walk a few hundred yards down the trail and you'll see us. For a
