2009 ROCKWALL PALINDROME
Made from 100% Tannat grape, it's no wonder they call this Palindrome, (a word that is spelled the same both backward and forward) because it is great from start to finish. If you are a fan of super big wines, they don't come much bigger than this. Not only for the fact that the tannat grape has the biggest tannin structure in the world, but this small production beauty packs a whollop with a deep roasted coffee core, with blackberry and black raspberry fruit, followed by a rich dark chocolate midpalate. The finish is strong and meaty, which is why I suggest having this wine with hearty barbeque.
2009 DARIOUSH CABERNET FRANC
Our good friends at Darioush have been nice enough once again to ship us a very limited supply of their "Winery Only" Cabernet Franc. If you were lucky enough to snag a bottle of the 2008, the 2009 is a must have for your cellar. This is a wine seduces all your senses, from the silky plum, blackberry and blueberry fruit, to its luscious violet floral aroma, its pleasant earthiness and the dazzling tea leaf, chocolate, espresso and smokey notes that linger long and lovingly. The elegant spice on the finish put all your senses on notice, that this is something special. One of the top 3 wines I have tasted so far this year. Don't wait and get left out, with only a few cases available, this definitely will sell out within the next few weeks.
2011 CARDWELL HILL ROSE
Springtime and Rose are a match made in heaven and this new Oregon release will have you tasting in the clouds. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the color may be light salmon but the refreshing flavors are big, solid, and dry. Like drinking a bowlful of fresh picked strawberries and raspberries, with the aroma of a field of roses as you swirl your glass. Its pleasant crispness makes it a perfect match for cheeses, fish and poultry dishes, or just lazing around, taking in the sunshine on your porch or patio.
2011 PINE RIDGE CHENIN BLANC-VIOGNIER
Pine Ridge Vineyards set the standard years ago with this unique blend, and with the cornucopia of flavors that are released with each pour, it's almost like having a breakfast bounty or a plush dessert. With a structure of white peach, pear, mango, honeysuckle, orange blossom, pineapple and grapefruit, each sip is bright, fresh and juicy. Made in an off-dry style, some may think its slightly sweet, but in truth, very fruity. When trying to pair wine with a Summer salad, sushi, or spicy Thai cuisine, choices are often limited and always hard to decide. Make it this blend and you will be richly rewarded.
