2009 CHATEAU de la ROULERIE ROSE d' ANJOU
With the rains gone and the Summer heat upon is, it's patio wine time. What better way to kick off the season with a refreshing rose from the Loire Valley of France. Light salmon in color, with strawberry, raspberry, ripe watermelon and rose petal aroma's, consisting of 70% grolleau and 30% gamay grapes, it is rich in flavor and aromatic to boot. It's balanced acidity makes it a perfect choice as an appetizer sipper or with light fair from the grill.
2009 RED ROCK WINEMAKER'S BLEND RESERVE
Over the past year, winemaker's are scrambling to make a blend that would be competitive to the nation's number one selling wine, the Menage a Trois red blend. It may take time and a lot of luck but Red Rock may have struck gold with this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Sirah. Dark and jammy, the fruit flavors of blackberry and blueberry are represented from the Cabernet, the softness and vanilla nuance come from the Merlot and the big bite of spice and structure speak Petite Sirah. It was a surprise hit at a recent tasting, so you may want to be one of the first on this bandwagon destined for success.
2008 FRANK FAMILY CHARDONNAY
On a recent visit to this Napa Valley property, it's a joy to be able to savor one wineries portfolio all in one tasting. From their line up of Cabernets, Zinfandel's and Merlot's among others, when you're tasting wines of this quality, it's hard to pin down a favorite. So I will let the people speak, because their Chardonnay always creates a buzz when opened. Rich flavors of apple, white peach, pear, pineapple and lemongrass, such a menagerie for the senses, with hazelnut and butterscotch thrown in the mix. Fermented in 100% new French Oak, this is a full bodied white that is lush and unforgettable.
2004 IL POGGIONE BRUNELLO di MONTALCINO
Considered by many to be the 1st Growth of Italian Brunello, Il Poggione sets the standard by which all other are judged. It's hard to tell where to start because there is just so much going on in this wine to enjoy, it takes your senses in so many directions. From the deep red raspberry and blackberry fruit, to it's perfumed aroma's of leather, licorice, spice, coffee bean and tobacco, you are taken to a sense of place that is pure Tuscany.Consistently rated in the mid to high 90's by worldwide critics, this wine is a heavenly treat from start to finish.

DID YOU KNOW..................that Commandaria wine from Cyprus is the longest continually made wine in history. First made over 4000 years ago, this sweet white is produced from mavro and xinisteri grapes and is still enjoyed today. It is often referred to as "wine of the kings and king of the wines.".
WINE TRIVIA..................What is the largest AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the United States? Step aside Napa and Sonoma, the Upper Mississippi River Valley, which covers 29,914 square miles, takes the title. It's boundary covers NE Iowa, NW Illinois, SE Minnesota and SW Wisconsin. The Alexis Bailly Winery in Hastings, Minnesota was it's first commercial winery established in 1973.
