2008 ENAMORE
Put together Old World Italian producer Allegrini, famous for their Amarone, and New World Argentina producer Renacer, and you give birth to this South American wine made in the "appassimento" technique, where the grapes are dried for up to 4 months before being pressed. With a mix of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Bonarda and Syrah, the wine is inky dark, fragrant, with black cherry and lively spice. A few years in the cellar will further reward you with a new unique wine experience.
2006 PENDULUM
Another Washington State gem that swings the palate back and forth with flavor to savor. Comprised of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, the aroma of herbs and spices swing to black current and plum fruit. A chocolate mid-palate swings back to black olive and tea leaf. Subtle oak then sways to soft tannins. Complex to intense, this is master crafted time and memories in a bottle.
2008 BERNARDUS CHARDONNAY
Year in and year out, one Chardonnay that pleases and refreshes the senses time after time. Crisp and lush apple and pear fruit, with hints of lemon, caramel and vanillia express this richly textured wine to perfection. With a blend of both stainless and French oak fermentation, it will satisfy fans of both rich buttery style Chardonnay's and those who prefer the fruit to excel. Lobster tail, scallops and baked chicken will benefit from a pairing with this Bernardus masterpiece.
2008 WINDOW PANE
Every wine lover searches for that "lightning in a bottle", the $100 bottle for less than half it's price, that delivers the goods beyond expectation. From the makers of the Napa cult wine Kobalt, this new Windown Pane release blew me away from the first whiff to it's smack me in the face finish. A blend of Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petite Verdot, the black cherry, black pepper and licorice flavors were huge yet extremely smooth and balanced. With only 378 cases produced, this brings winemaking to a whole new level: cult wine for a working man's budget.

| DID YOU KNOW.................that the grape varietal Valdigue, that produces a fruity style wine most like a French Beaujolais, currently made famous by California wine producer J. Lohr, has a long and storied history. It is a workhorse grape in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France known there as Gros Auxerrois. In the United States, it was known as Napa Gamay until that term was banned from use in 1999.
WINE TRIVIA.................What is a hectare? It is the metric unit of land measurement for which most of the world calculates the amount of vineyard area. We in the United States speak more in terms of acres. There are approximately 2.47 acres to one hectare. If only winemakers would eliminate the 750ml bottle and just make them all 1 liter bottles, us wine lovers might further embrace the metric system. |
