2008 SHIMMON CANYON VIOGNIER

When it comes to Viognier, many winemakers stay clear of this grape because of it's temperamental growing habits. The great one's come at a steep price, at least until now. With it's golden honey and peach infused flavors, fragrant and floral with a touch of black licorice, it displays rich tropical fruit up front and continues through it's long finish. When you can get a wine of this quality under a $13 price point, jump at the chance. The pot of gold under this rainbow may not last forever.

2008 WALL CABERNET SAUVIGNON

One of the best value Cabernet's I have discovered in a long time. Jam packed with blackberry, black currant and plum fruit, with aroma's of tobacco and coffee beans, the soft tannins make for one tasty treat. If you like your Cab's on the fuller meatier side, not the light and fruitier style, then this is your ticket to ride one of the best budget beaters on the market.

2008 NEIL ELLIS PINOTAGE

I get many requests asking for a wine recommendation for a "Big" red. If you can look past the Cabernet's, Zinfandel's and Petite Sirah's, my first thought is to think outside the box and try a South African Pinotage, and especially one from the Neil Ellis portfolio. Deep dark in color, cherry and plum flavors dominate, with touches of smoke and French oak to round out it's elegant multi-layered structure. Though at 14.5% alcohol, it is a velvety racy beast. The perfect match to accompany your heartiest of Winter meals.

2009 AVANTHIA GODELLO

Though the Godello grape was thought to be extinct over 30 years ago, leave it to Jorge Ordonez, the king of Spanish selections, to bring us one of the best examples of a European white wine on the face of the planet. Peach, pear, apple and melon fruit blend perfectly with fresh herbs and chalky mineral characters exhibited throughout this gem. Concentrated and explosive, it's like someone opened a bottle of Springtime. Highly rated by the wine press, you be the judge if you're looking for a breath of fresh air of an elegant white.

DID YOU KNOW...............in the Bordeaux region of France, Margaux is the largest of it's regions within the appellation while Pomerol is the smallest. The Graves region is known to be the oldest.

WINE TRIVIA.................What is the curly metal part on a corkscrew called? The auger portion that goes into the cork of a wine bottle is called a worm. Though there are many different styles of openers on the market, the worm is the one constant on every cork screw.

Kelt XO

Kelt XO Tour Du Monde Grand Champagne Cognac

                       $165.99

If you haven't had a vacation in years, you're not going to read any further. One of the highest rated brandies in the world - Kelt XO Tour Du Monde Grand Champagne Cognac - takes a leisurely cruise around the world before being bottled.

The cognac takes this three month voyage shortly after blending. While en route, the brandy is stored in small, 72 liter Limousin oak barrels that are lashed to the ship's deck. The gentle rolling of the ship allows the brandies in its blend to become fully intergrated, while the constantly changing climate and fresh ocean air positively influence the aging cognac. Upon it's return to France, the brandy is aged an additional year in oak barrels.

Kelt XO Tour Du Monde is an extraordinarily luxurious cognac with an average age of 42 years. The Grand Champagne brandy has lush texture and medium-weight body. It has an expansive bouquet graced with rich fruity and floral aromas. The palate is a lavish affair featuring the delectable flavors of fruit, vanilla, spice and oak. The lingering, warm finish is a sublime pleasure.

Kelt XO Tour Du Monde is a singular cognac worthy of the critical acclaim it has received.

Woodford Reserve Maple wood

Woodford Reserve Maple Wood Finish

                                 $89.94

(Fifth bottle in the series Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Series)

This whiskey is one of the most unique Master's Collections to date as it is the industry's first bourbon to be finished-aged in barrels made from sugar maple wood. Barrels play a key role in producing bourbon, with approximately 70 percent of the spirit's flavor and aromas and all of its color provided by the barrel. Woodford Reserve's new offering features bourbon finished-aged in uniquely crafted barrels made of maple wood, something never before done in the industry.

Tasting notes for Woodford Reserve Maple Wood Finish

Golden brown with aromas rich and sweet with hints of brown sugar glazed baked apricots, milk chocolate and fresh toasted oak. Tastes warm with cinnamon spice, faint hints of maple syrup, berry fruit and a touch of nuttiness. Finishes crisp with delicate maple syrup notes lingering on with a touch of warm fruit.

Chivas Royal Salute

Chivas Regal Royal Salute (21 year)

                                                           $179.98

Royal Salute was launched on 2nd June 1953, as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day. The name of this exceptional Scotch Whisky comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for powerful dignitaries.

This rich & complex whisky is aged for 21 years in oak casks, then bottled in handcrafted British porcelain flagons.

Brilliant amber hue. Soft floral and honeyed malt aromas. A soft gentle entry leads to a dryish, oily medium-bodied palate with toasty malt, roasted nuts, and dried autumn fruit flavors. Finishes with a lingering peppery wave of spice and round, grainy malt flavors. A soft, feminine style.
