Tasting Notes

2007 C5 ZINFANDEL
With the Dream Cruise fast approaching, why not get into the spirit with this full throttle, pedal to the metal, high octane, destined to be a classic Zin. With an engine of blackberry and black currant dark fruit, a chassis laden with vanilla and spice, and an interior graced with chocolate, espresso and a balanced acidity. Winemaker Jeff Lubin may not be Henry Ford but he sure builds his Zinfandel like a man of the wine loving people.

2007
NICKEL AND NICKEL
SEARBY VINEYARD
CHARDONNAY
People associate this winery with high quality products, and this Chardonnay is no exception. It's unique core fruit of apple and pear is elegantly complimented with lemon, lime and a hint of orange blossom. I like it's creaminess and that is not masked by a ton of oak, though it's time in French oak is time well spent. Full bodied yet not a heavy wine that will weigh down the palate. Quite refreshing on a hot Summer's day, our current low price will certainly take your breath away. Get it while it's hot, and at a hot price.

BORGO MAGREDO NV PROSECCO
From the largest estate in the Friuli region of Italy comes one of the finest examples of prosecco I have sampled this year. Made in the Extra Dry style, meaning not dry - not sweet, white peach, green apple and a delicate floral aroma play like a harmonious symphony from it's start to it's long finish. The balanced acidity is appealing, the texture silky, it's flavor seductive. A perfect compliment with cheese and crackers, fruit and nuts.

2006 DOMAINE de la BASTIDE COTES du RHONE
Composed of 60% Syrah, 20% Granache and 20% Carignane, this is a blockbuster that blows away it's closest competition, a wine not to be missed. Dry in style, loaded with dark rich fruit and a field a fresh violet aroma on the nose. It's super juicy with just a pleasant hint of earthiness, so lacking in many recent Cotes du Rhone. The long silky finish will leaving you feeling wow, especially if paired with grilled meats, duck breast, or a flavorful cassoulette.

DID YOU KNOW..................that Mexico has the oldest wine producing industry in the America's. Vine cuttings from Spain were sent to conquistador Cortez in the early 1500's and by 1524, vineyards were a major crop planting for Spanish settlers. Even today, good examples of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempanillo and Chardonnay are found south of the border.

WINE TRIVIA..................What is saperavi? It is a dark skinned red grape that is the specialty varietal from the Republic of Georgia. Grown in the Alazani Valley on the edge of the Caucasus Mountains, archaeologists have found proof that wine has been produced in this region for over 7 millennia.
