2008 PERMUTATIONS PINOT NOIR
It is not everyday that you use the words Pinot Noir and Australia in the same sentence. That is about to change. Loaded with ripe juicy raspberry and cherry pie fruit, a pinch of Dr. Pepper soda and rosemary spice, this Yarra Valley stunner has many complex layers of enjoyment. With 24 different whimsical labels which make for fun reading, more fun is discovering this new value beauty before the rest of the crowd.
2006 MT. VEEDER CABERNET SAUVIGNON
How can a proven winner of a Cabernet get any better? When you can save nearly $25 per bottle, that's how. Lower price does not mean lesser quality as the '06 is long, rich, and deep in savory plum, blackberry and black cherry flavors. Soft textures of vanilla and toasted oak blend wonderfully with the lively tannins, resulting in a long and mouth watering finish. Get while the getting is good because you never know when you will see another pot of gold at the end of a rainbow deal like this any time soon.
2007 DR. LOOSEN GRAACHER HIMMELREICH RIESLING SPATLESE
From the steep slopes along the Mosel River in Germany, golden nectar from the God's rains down into the bottles of Ernst Loosen once again. Honey coated apple, velvety citrus, and the terrior slate minerality famous of this region is a feast for the senses. Simply elegant as a wine can be, paired with roasted chicken and creamy risotto, it makes for one heavenly experience.
2007 CLINE BIG BREAK ZINFANDEL
If you like your Zinfandel big, bold, spicy, tons of dark fruit of plum, blackberry and cherry, with black licorice, coffee, and a hint of game smokiness? Look no further than this year in and year out winner from the folks at Cline Cellars. When cooking Mexican food or grilling lamb, it's always a treat to pull one of these beauties from the cellar vault. Despite being a tad young, give this a few years in the cellar and you'll be rewarded like a penny stock turned blue chip. |
