Tasting Notes

2006 PRECEDENT PINOT NOIR

Here is one of the most unique Pinot's I have tasted in years. First of all, the grapes come from Marin County, CA. Second, it is the new pet project from native Michigander Nathan Kandler, assistant winemaker at Thomas Fogerty Winery. Best of all is it's complex flavors of bright red berries, floral aroma's, a touch of herbal character, ending with a long clean finish. With only 118 cases produced, don't let a slice of Pinot heaven pass you by.

2006 MICHAEL-DAVID PETITE PETIT

Under the whimsical big top label lies a 3 ring circus of flavor. A jammy blend of 85% Petite Sirah and 15% Petit Verdot, plum, blackberry and black current fruit dominate the palate. Pungent violets and racy spice burst out like a cannonball, while the licorice and vanilla finish are a welcome encore. A hearty barbeque would do poetic justice to this wines biggest and tastiest effort to date.

2008 ALTA VISTA TORRONTES

Those who like to think outside the white wine box are discovering the richness of Argentina's Torrontes grape. Fragrant wildflowers intertwine with peach, pear, melon, pink grapefruit and tropical fruits to produce this solid attractive beauty. If you're looking for the perfect match to serve with sushi or Thai cuisine, you've hit the jackpot. It's quality to price ratio will have you rethinking your next choice when it comes to a pleasing white wine selection.

2005 SASHAY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

When it comes to Napa Cab's, it doesn't get much better than this. Classic dark rich fruit with tons of leather, tar, chocolate, toast, smoke and a whole lot more. Sleek, silky, seductive, velvety, it has it all and the list goes on. Barrel aged in French Oak and totally unfiltered, this wine will age gracefully in the cellar for many years. With only 44 cases produced, that's only 528 bottles, if you love Cabernet, this is one of the best of the 2005 vintage.

DID YOU KNOW.................. That the French appellation Graves is considered the oldest wine region in Bordeaux. This Left Bank region, known as the Birthplace of Claret, is the only reknowned Bordeaux appellation that produces red wine (mostly Cabernet), dry white wine (blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon), and sweet wine (Sauternes).

WINE TRIVIA.................. What is the number one tourist attraction in California. For many years, Disneyland ruled. Now, wineries are king. The wine industry now attracts more than 16 million visitors to it's wineries, tasting rooms, and vineyards. Who would have ever thought grapes could overtake a couple of cute mice.
