2006 DARIOUSH CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Not resting on their laurels of the highly acclaimed 2005 vintage, the folks at Darioush have another blue ribbon winner to add to their portfolio. This cabernet shows it's elegance with dark, rich blackberry, blueberry and cherry fruit, with tobacco and espresso bean accenting it's long silky finish. It's a bit tight right now but over the long haul, you'll be richly rewarded for years to come.
2007 SHADY LANE BLUE FRANC
Winemaker Adam Satchwell has given hope to all those who said that Michigan can not produce a quality red wine. Made from the Lemberger grape, most notable in great Austrian red wines, this is a thing of beauty. It expresses lush blackberry, blueberry and plum juiciness, infused with a nice soft spice that screams to be paired with a hearty steak or lamb. Subtle yet explosive, with only 252 cases produced, be one of the first to experience a local gem destined for great things to come.
2007 DOMAINE DAULNY SANCERRE
From the eastern Loire region of France, this Sauvignon Blanc is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Light gold in color, the peach, grapefruit, and green apple flavors seduce the palate from start till finish. Well balanced acidity blends perfectly with the flinty minerality that is lusciously clean and refreshing. An newfound classic that represents "Class in a glass".
2007 DR. LOOSEN ERDENER TREPPCHEN RIESLING SPATLESE
If there was a title "King of Riesling", Ernst Loosen would certainly be at the head of the pack. Year after year, he dazzles the wine community with an array of offerings that anoint the palate like liquid royalty. From grapes grown along the rocky hillside of the Mosel River, exotic flavors and aroma's of honey, lemon and apricot mix with layers of creamy almond and zesty butterscotch, creating a velvet bliss for the senses. Feel regal without the crown, the pageantry of splender as it's going down.

DID YOU KNOW..................that in the Grimm's fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, it states that Little Red took a bottle of wine to her grandmother.Sadly, with this reference to alcohol, over 400 copies of this book sit in a locked storage room at a public school in Empire, CA, banned because of her act of kindness.
WINE TRIVIA..................Why are there so many different shapes for wine bottles? Traditionally the shape of a wine bottle denoted the type or varietal of wine it contained. European wine producing countries set this standard long ago and it has since been adopted by the new world wine producers. With practice, while being blindfolded and handed a bottle of wine, you should easily be able to tell basically what you are about to. |
