2007 JANA LEELANAU PENINSULA RIESLING The finest riesling's from Germany may have met their match with this new masterpiece.........from Michigan of all places. Bright fresh macintosh apple, pear, and just a hint of black licorice marry well with it's balanced acidity and crisp, dry, and refreshing flavors. A perfect match with many of Michigan's fresh ingredients and home grown recipes or treat your finest German cuisine to a taste of the Great Lakes State.
2005 VON STRASSER DIAMOND MOUNTAIN CABERNET SAUVIGNON
..............Stacked up next to most overpriced and overrated Napa Cab's, this beauty could be the Belle of the Ball, at a fraction of the cost. With a subtle splash of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot, the dark berries, violets, milk chocolate, vanilla, and soft oak combine to bring to the table nothing but elegance and pure enjoyment. Great fruit and superb winemaking at it's finest.
One of the most palate rewarding Viognier I've tasted this year. The first thing that hits you square is tit's fragrant nose followed by the ultra vibrancy of apricot, honey, Italian white peaches, fresh melon, lemon, lime and toasted coconut. Lots to offer, but beware, savor extensively for it won't last long around others who enjoy a great white. Dry and creamy, lush and very food friendly when served with fish, clams casino, roasted chicken, or Oysters Rockerfeller.
For years, I have been met with either love or hate from this South African varietal. This could be the prime example to convert the harshest of critics. Soft and dry, it's deep ruby color is enhanced by dark plum, sweet cherry and black currants, with fine cigar box tobacco and elegant white pepper. Silky tannins round out this palate pleasing Pinotage like no other. |
