2007 Norma Jeane Merlot
This young wine reflects the youthfulness of a young Marilyn Monroe, also Marilyn Merlot, the singnature release in the Nova portfolio. Deep in color, the fruit is fresh and shows ripe cherry, black currant and plum notes. It's nothing more or nothing less than an everyday sipper meant to be drank and enjoyed in it's youth. memorabilia hunters love it for it's collectability. Now in it's 10 vintage, the original release in 1998 is now worth in the neighborhood of $160, more than 20 times it's release price.
2005 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
If you have yet to experience the magic of cabernet that the State of Washington bottles each vintage, this is a great place to start. It's up front aromatic aroma's lead you to an array of dark rich berries with loads of chocolate, soft spice, and the atypical earthiness that can only be expressed from the Northwest. A mixed blend of new and used French and American oak compliments the added blend of Merlot, Syrah and Malbec. Soft and elegant now, it will benefit from a few years in the cellar. In the meantime, grab and older vintage that may be available and see what the future holds today.
2007 Corteforte Rosato
Without hesitation, I can simply declare that this was one of the best rose examples I have ever tasted. Made from the same grapes that are the make up of Amarone, (corvina, rondinella and molinara) this wine exudes an excitable pleasure in wine quaffing. Full rich strawberry, bing cherry and a cool breeze of refreshing flavors is only outdone by it's huge aroma on the opening nose. An incredible Summer sipper and a magnificent effort from his boutique Italian producer.
2005 Consilience Petite sirah
It amazes me how such a small winery produces such big opulent wines year after year, with this big red being no exception. Packed with dark blackberry, black raspberrry and plum fruit, white pepper and a cigar box smokiness radiating throughout. It's jammy it's dense, it's concentrated, it's luscious, and it's that kind of wine that will definitely leave you with "Wine Teeth".
