null Alysun stresses the importance of 'breakfast on event day for peak performance' - and the importance of 'staying hydrated every day and during an event'

'Eat to Compete - Five Times a day' - Be consistent in your routine, and eat something every 3 to 4 hours during the day - 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks every day. Try to eat three types of foods at meals, combining carbohydrate, protein and fat.. For more information watch Alysun's Top TEN Nutrition Tips here.

Breakfast on Event Day for Peak Performance - It is well known that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for athletes. On the day of an event breakfast is important, but don't eat anything 'new' on race day. Include complex carbs, low fat and some protein. Suggestions - Banana with oatmeal and low-fat / fat-free milk; PB&J sandwich; orange juice, energy bar and whole wheat toast.
