Massachusetts Turnpike and Tobin Bridge yellow-on-black FAST LANE signs are being replaced by white-on-purple E-ZPass starting next week. And the white-on-green Citizens Bank advertisements atop the electronic toll lane signs will disappear as well.
Your BESTPASS transponder will continue to function as it did under FASTLANE and this change will have no impact on service going forward.

Ole and Lena were so excited to get a new cellular phone. Ole was to call when he was on his way home from town. Ole called Lena when he entered the freeway. "Lena put supper on, I'm on my way home."
Lena says, "Be careful because I hear some nut is driving the wrong way on the freeway."

Avoid Damaged Transponder Fees

There has been some question from several of our customer as to what E-ZPass considers to be a damaged transponder. Essentially if a device cannot be reused by E-ZPass it will be marked as damaged; this means in order to not be charged a damage fee E-ZPass should be able to take your returned device, reprogram it and/or put in a new battery and send it to a customer for use. They of course take into account some normal wear and tear, but the life expectancy of all devices is at least 10 years.
E-ZPass reviews each device for both physical and cosmetic damage. If, for example, the cover of the transponder has... gashes, cracks, is broken, or has other hardened adhesives (besides the two approved Velcro strips), it will be marked damaged. If, for example, the cover has been defaced... written on with permanent marker or paint, bleached due to cleaning products, has customer applied labels, or the device is covered in grime it will be marked damaged. These are just some examples of what is considered as damaged, we are asking you, your maintenance staff and your drivers to please make every effort to reduce any chance of damage. These efforts will ultimately translate into reduce costs to you. Please ensure transponders are properly mounted, do not write on them or apply unnecessary labels, adhesives, etc... The image above shows examples of transponders deemed damaged by E-ZPass.
BESTPASS recognizes there are deficiencies in the current damage assessment policies at E-ZPass and we continue to be a voice to influence them as they review and potentially adjust their policies going forward. We are also looking into options for a low cost protective transponder case to help protect against potential damage.
It is important to remember the transponders used by BESTPASS are rented from E-ZPass. If they are returned damaged to BESTPASS, BESTPASS is charged by E-ZPass for their replacement. BESTPASS has no control or input as to the determination of damaged and thus any charges for a damaged transponder will be applied to your account.

Illinois Violation Processing
For those clients who utilize the Illinois Tollway and incur toll violations there is an updated violation submission letter available on my.BESTPASS.com. This new letter has been approved by officials at the Illinois Tollway and will make submission and payment of your violations along with waiver of penalty fees much easier.
To utilize the new service, select the Illinois Tollway from the list of tolling agencies, enter your violation number(s) and click "Generate Letter".
We are working on arrangements with various E-ZPass authorities to be able to process violations directly through BESTPASS. These are the violations incurred on facilities other than the NYS Thruway, NJ & PA Turnpike that we can not directly handle for our clients. Stay tuned!

| NORPASS NO LONGER ACTIVE IN KENTUCKY | |
PrePass Taking over Bypass Operations in Kentucky
As of the week of May 7th, 2012, Kentucky has removed all e-screening computers and roadside communications for their e-screening program from all scales. There will not be any signals given to transponders in Kentucky until PrePass installs their roadside equipment. This is expected to happen in 3-4 weeks.
If you have a PrePass account your transponder will begin to work again in Kentucky once PrePass has installed their equipment. If you would like to continue to bypass in Kentucky and you do not have a PrePass account, please contact BESTPASS and we can assist you in opening an account and register your BESTPASS transponder with PrePass.
NORPASS will continue to operate in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, South Dakota and Connecticut. |

Kim Yund - Customer Support Associate
Meet Kim Yund, she has been ensuring our customers receive superior service and support for almost a year now. She initially was brought on board to assist the team in managing violations and credit requests on behalf of our customers. Kim however, decided she needed to expand her responsibilities to include more direct contact with our customers. You may have found when you call in or reach out via LIVEChat she is the person that assists you. Kim has become an invaluable part of our team and we are happy she joined the BESTPASS family. She is also a Defensive Driving Instructor on the weekends. As a mother of three young children there are many demands on Kim outside of work. We are not sure how she manages it all, but she does an impressive job and we appreciate her commitment to us and most importantly to our customers.
