Three Bikers...

An old man was eating in a truck stop when three rough-looking bikers walked in. As they passed the old man, the first biker pushed his cigarette into the old man's pie, then laughed and took a seat at the counter. The second biker picked up the old man's milk and spit into it. The third biker turned over the old man's plate before joining the others at the counter.

Without saying a word to the laughing bikers, the old man put his money down, got up, and left the diner. One of the bikers said to the waitress, "Not much of a man, was he?"

The waitress replied," Not much of a truck driver either. He just backed his big rig over three motorcycles!"

DAMAGED/DEFACED TRANSPONDERS

Stop Sign
Avoid Unwanted Fees

In 2011, we saw an increase in transponders being returned to BESTPASS damaged or defaced, and inevitably we saw an increase in charges from E-ZPass for damaged equipment.  We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that we do not own the equipment we provide to you for electronic tolling; it is leased from E-ZPass.  With that, E-ZPass charges BESTPASS for every transponder that cannot be reused.  Due to the significant increase in E-ZPass damage fees, we will have to begin charging these fees back to our customer accounts [as outlined in our agreement].

We realize accidents happen and transponders may get damaged or defaced, but we have discovered more often than not it could have been prevented.  For example: Writing driver/company name or vehicle/unit numbers on a TAG in permanent marker is considered defacement of property. And transponders not properly mounted on/in vehicles often lead to unnecessary damage.

No SharpeSolution: Use labels in place of writing directly on the devices and use the provided mounting supplies (velcro strips for windshield mounting & bolts for roof or license plate mounting).

BESTPASS makes every effort to clean and restore returned transponders prior to their return to E-ZPass to avoid any potential for damage fees.  But permanent marker or adhesives, that can not be removed, have proven to be a real challenge.

With a desire to reduce any unnecessary cost to you or your company, we request you keep the care and utilization of your transponder in mind.

NEWEST MEMBER OF THE BESTPASS TEAM

AnthonyAnthony Gagliardi

Anthony joined the Customer Support Team on January 2, 2012.  He spent a number of years in the Fire Apparatus Industry, attending trade shows to demonstrate apparatus and equipment to members of firefighting organizations. When not attending industry events he focused on managing active customer and vendor accounts.  We welcome his addition to our team and we hope you do the same. Make sure to say hello the next time you call the helpdesk.
