Protect Your Mark
Maintaining the integrity of your mark is of critical importance in today's marketplace and there are several ways to do this. First, have a strong security process in place for your stamps. This includes making sure you know where they are throughout the day and locking them up at night. Second, know how many stamps you have and make sure they are always accounted for. Next, limit the amount of stamps being used. This can prevent one from disappearing without being noticed. Also, make sure to contact your inspector if any stamp is unaccounted for. It may only be misplaced but if stolen your number could be placed on WPM that has not been properly treated and any issues that come up on this would be traced back to your facility making you liable. It is also a good idea to give your customers a copy of your current Certificate of Membership. This certificate has your specific TP assigned number on it. Explain to your customers that this number is yours alone and if any pallets come from somewhere else with this number on it they should notify you at once. If you find your number is being used by someone else contact TP immedately and we will address the situation quickly. Protecting your number is of great importance and using the above techniques offers you the best methods of doing so. |

Format of WPM Markings
ALSC has advised that "recent observations in the marketplace have revealed some agency WPM marks that are not consistent with the format as shown in Annex II ( of ALSC Wood Packaging Material Enforcement Regulations). These inconsistencies range from stamps, stencils and brands without the box borders to marks applied by an ink jet apparatus that have little resemblance to the above format. Quality marks that do not follow the standard format are not in the interest of standardization and may make control of the mark more difficult for the agency."
ALSC has requested each agency (including TP) to review the WPM quality marks used under it's supervision and take the necessary steps to bring any nonconforming marks in compliance with the format as shown. Our inspectors will be doing their best to help and make sure there are no issues with our subscribers' stamps. The use of the older format is allowed until your stamps wear out and then replacement stamps will be made in the new format. Make sure to keep older format and worn out marking equipment and give to your inspector for proper disposal. If you have any questions regarding the format of your stamps please let us know.
