Rubber Stamp
        Stamp Security

ALSC 5.6.12.1 states that "the quality marks issued by an agency to a specific facility location are to be used only at that location." This means that when a TP issued stamp is sent to a facility for the purpose of applying an IPPC quality mark to wood packaging material (WPM), it is to be used only at the facility where the stamp was issued. This application of the TP quality mark tells the user that we have licensed the producing facility to use our mark and that this product has been produced under TP's quality control program. If the TP stamp is taken off site from the facility it was issued, it is a misuse of the quality mark and could lead to an ALSC suspension and revocation of stamps. The unauthorized removal of stamps from a site is a problem as well. It is important that every facility take the security of their stamps seriously and make certain they know where they are and how they are being used at all times. If you lose a stamp or suspect it has been stolen contact us immediately. The integrity of the IPPC program is critically important to every U.S. exporter, and it will take everyone's cooperation to keep this program safe.

Wood Supports in Corrugated Boxes

When attaching wood supports to a corrugated box, these pieces actually become part of the overall WPM product. The box itself should be stamped IPPC-HT on at least two opposite sides. ALSC also recommends that the wood support pieces be stamped IPPC-HT even though this is not a requirement. There have been enough issues with customs overseas that this practice could help avoid a problem when it arrives at the destination port. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this issue.
 Quick Links Explained
Our updated newsletter format allows us to included several quick links for your convenience. The first two links above go directly to the specific WPM areas of our website. The USDA PCIT/PExD link will take you to a page where you can access the PExD site. PExD gives you detailed information on WPM requirements for any country implementing ISPM 15 regulations. Simply use the PCIT link given and then click on the PExD link in the lower right corner of this page. The Export Certification Specialist link will give you the name and contact information of the USDA phytosanitary official responsible for any area in the U.S. These specialists are a wealth of information regarding the requirements for many issues related to the exporting of wood products. Please let us know if you have questions about any of these links.
