Climate change is causing major environmental alterations around the globe. It has also has impacts on health, including on mental health and well-being. These are also anticipated to be unequally distributed, affecting peoples most reliant on local ecologies, such as the Canadian Inuit.
This presentation will share the stories, voices, and lived experiences of Inuit in Rigolet, Nunatsiavut, Labrador to illustrate the connections between climate change and mental health.
This session will introduce attendees to Canada's Inuit populations, the socio-economic and socio-cultural transformations occurring in these regions over the last 50 years, and the current challenges stemming from climate change and the resulting environmental alterations. |
Education Committee On November 30, 2011 Bill 13, an act amending the Education Act with respect to bullying and other matters, received first reading. It has been reported in the media that this act provides a definition for bullying along with definite consequences for bullying including mandatory expulsions.
During the afternoon session, the Education Committee will review the provisions of the act and evaluate them through the lens of relevant CFUW and IFUW education policy.
The Committee will also take the opportunity to develop template letters for club use to respond to Bill 13.
