Reston Station The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is constructing a 23-mile extension of the Metrorail system, which will be operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from East Falls Church to Washington Dulles International Airport. The extension will serve the Reston-Herndon area, the state's second largest employment concentration. It will provide a one-seat ride from Dulles International Airport to downtown Washington. |

Join us for senior water aerobics
Reston Association's most popular class is moving to Ridge Heights heated pool in order to wrap up the season. Aug. 21-Sept. 20.
Ages: 55 and up.
$4/RA members.
$8/Non-members.
Ridge Heights Pool, 11400 Ridge Heights Road.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 a.m.
Note: Pool will not be heated until the water temperature drops to 78 degrees.
Some pools close Aug. 19
The following pools will close for the season on Sunday, Aug.19: Autumnwood, Golf Course Island, Hunters Woods, Lake Audubon, Newbridge, Shadowood, Uplands. Tall Oaks pool will begin a weekend-only schedule after Aug. 19.

Bird Walk

Leader: Bill Brown.
Beginning and expert birders are all welcome to help find birds in some of Reston's most beautiful natural areas and surrounding parks. Our collaborative efforts usually produce a variety of local birds. These walks are sponsored by Reston Association and its Environmental Advisory Committee, the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia and The Bird Feeder store. There are no fees and registration is not required.

Cricket Crawl Friday, Aug. 24 7:30-9:30 p.m. Free.
Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive.
Ages 8 and up (Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.)
Participate in a regional citizen science project to get a baseline on cricket populations in the Northern Virginia/D.C./Baltimore area. Meet at Nature House for a crash course in cricket and katydid calls. Then go outside and listen for eight target species on the nature center property. We will finish by carpooling to other sites in Reston. Sponsored by Audubon Naturalist Society, Discover Life and Natural History Society of Maryland. |

If you live in the Hunters Woods/Dogwood District of Reston, you may attend this community meeting. It will be an opportunity to meet your district director and to learn about the issues and amenities in your area. It will be hosted by District Director, Cheryl Beamer. You will hear about programs, events, activities and plans for your community and learn about the work of the Board of Directors with regard to your district. Reston is divided into four electoral districts, represented by a member to the Board of Directors. The other community meeting dates have been set as well. (Locations will be announced).  Committees Seek Members

Reston Association is seeking a volunteer to serve on our Covenants Committee. One member is needed to fill an at-large seat for a term of three years.
The Covenants Committee, appointed by the RA Board of Directors, is responsible for administering the Use and Maintenance Covenants set forth in the Reston Deed of Dedication.
