Reston Station The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is constructing a 23-mile extension of the Metrorail system, which will be operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority from East Falls Church to Washington Dulles International Airport. The extension will serve the Reston-Herndon area, the state's second largest employment concentration. It will provide a one-seat ride from Dulles International Airport to downtown Washington. 2012 Polar Plunge

 Booths Available at Festival
|
Participating groups, reserve your table today. E-mail naturecenter@reston.org for more information. Table space is free for non-profits, $25 for businesses. The festival will feature hands-on activities and entertainment for all ages, including live animals, craft making for kids, displays and information from environmental groups as well as fishing and canoe/kayak rentals on Lake Audubon.
The Spring Festival is Saturday, May 5, from 1-5 p.m. at the Walker Nature Education Center, 11450 Glade Drive.

Commemorative bricks are available through Feb. 29 at Reston Museum, 1639 Washington Plaza. A three-line brick ($100) allows for 15 characters or spaces per line. The large brick ($250) allows for six lines of inscription. Bricks will be installed on Lake Anne Plaza in time for Founder's Day, April 14. Order forms available at Reston Museum and at restonmuseum.org.

Ice Skating Fundraiser

Reston Town Center Ice Skating Pavilion. $10 admission (includes skate rental) with 50% of proceeds benefitting March for Babies during regular skate hours. Also, sign up for the Reston Town Center March for Babies walk on Sunday, May 6.

Organizations to be Honored

Recipients of grants from the Giving Circle of HOPE will be honored. Each of the 10 non-profit organizations that received $5,000 will have a representataive and a display table.
This will be the eighth annual grantee celebration of the Giving Circle of HOPE, an organization of more than 100 members based in Reston to promote volunteerism and philanthropy.
This year's grant recipients are Alternative House, Empowered Women International, Grace Ministries, Herndon-Reston FISH, Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic, Just Neighbors, Manassas Midwifery, PROSPERA Initiatives, Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN), and The Brain Foundation.

Get Involved by Volunteering at Reston Association
|
RA's volunteer program consists of members in our community working in a variety of capacities. Volunteers are RA's strongest line of communication with the community. Each year a diverse group of RA members donate thousands of hours to the association. Through their dedication and kindness, we are able to provide a wide range of high-quality programs, services and events that make Reston a great place to Live, Work, Play and Get Involved. |

Serve on DRB, Advisory Panels
There are three vacancies on the Design Review Board. Two design professionals (architect, land planner, or landscape architect); and one Lay Member are needed to serve three-year terms. The DRB interprets, administers and renders decisions involving the design covenants in accordance with the Design Guidelines.
In addition, there are vacancies on the Reston Neighborhood Advisory Committee, which is responsible for facilitating the collection and exchange of information between the Association and Reston's residential property owners and managers including but not limited to Clusters, Condominiums, Apartments, and established neighborhood groups on issues related to governance, property management, maintenance and revitalization.
