RE/MAX
"Delivering Excellence"July 2012

Greetings!

Summer has finally arrived - and with it, the heat! The weather isn't the only thing that's hot - the real estate market continues to hold steady as Buyers and Sellers look to make a move on their next piece of property.

Of course some are still on the fence, wondering if this really is the best time to buy, or if interest rates and prices will sink even lower down the road. If you're questioning the market's timing, watch the video below to learn how historical patterns indicate that NOW is the time to purchase property.

You may also wonder whether it's smarter to continue renting rather than taking the plunge of homeownership. Read here to see why this may not be such a good idea.

If you're getting ready to buy or sell, you may be creating online profiles. Make sure you've thought through how to keep your personal information on the web safe. Find out more here.

My successful Home Buyers Workshop series is on its summer hiatus, but plan ahead to attend one this fall. See below for details.

Please forward this e-newsletter to friends, colleagues, or family members, and don't forget to check out my other informational resources on my blog, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and website!

Oh by the way, if you know of anyone thinking of buying or selling a home who would benefit from the level of service I provide, just give me a call with their contact information. I'll be happy to follow up and take special care of them.

Best,

Connie White

AirfareProtecting Your Personal Information on the Web

Internet
Mobile computing allows you to store documents, photos, video, and more within the cloud. However, many people have been hesitant to do so because of security concerns. The good news is that security is becoming stronger as mobile computing continues to grow and transform the way we live and do business.

5 Tips to Keep Your Information Safe

1. Create strong passwords that use a combination of letters, symbols, and numbers. To boost security, use a phrase or sentence that you're sure to remember, or use the first letters of each word in a favorite quote.

Man2. Never use the same password on all of the sites you visit.

3. Don't store personal information, such as your password or credit card information, on your computer, tablet, or smart phone, or on a website that you visit frequently.

4. Install anti-virus software, which will protect your computer and personal information from passing along viruses or spyware in the event of a hack.

5. Make sure that a website is secure. Look for a padlock at the bottom of the web window, or look at the address bar to make sure that the Web address begins with "https"

Should I buy Real Estate in June 2012?
Should I Buy Real Estate in June 2012?

Through analyzing historical and economic patterns in our country over the last century, many experts are predicting the prices of homes to start rising again between 2016-2027. It makes sense, then, to get in on the ground floor while interest rates are incredibly low and foreclosure deals are abundant.

Essential Information for Second Home Purchases

It's an age-old question: buy or rent? With few exceptions, owning property rather than renting is usually the best long-term investment. Here are a few reasons why:

* Appreciation - If you upgrade features, keep the exterior neat, and perform regular maintenance, the home willl appreciate in value.

* Write-offs - Who doesn't want another tax deduction?

* Asset Preservation - Money invested in property is hard to spend.

* Supply and Demand - There will always be a limited number of properties for sale.

* Future Benefits - Real estate investing allows you to slowly accrue benefits that will help you in your later years.

* Building a Future - Owning property allows you to leave something valuable to your children and grandchildren.

A Lover of Gardening

 Gardening

My Flower Garden

Have you ever closely watched flowers during the day? Really paid attention?

Gardening is a relatively new and passionate hobby for me. One of my Sellers, a talented gardener, inspired me to delve into gardening. She not only had lovely perennial flower beds spaced throughout her yard, but also shared her books on gardening. That's how I got my start!

The first lesson that I learned was to create a garden where I could enjoy looking at it. My husband and I positioned it so that we could view it from our kitchen and dining area. Over the years, we have moved plants, removed plants, divided plants, and added plants. Yet, throughout these shifts, we've been consistent with the overall theme - a palette of blues, purples, pinks, whites, and touches of yellow as accent.

Dividing plants and gifting them to family, friends, and past clients is always fun; it's like passing along a meaningful quote or a recommendation of a good book, movie, or restaurant - except that this lasts for years.

The interesting thing is watching the flowers bloom. For example, some flowers, like the Christmas Rose, follow the sun - open early in the morning and close for the evening. The Peony Tree, Spiderwart, and Anemone open with the sunrise and close at sunset. Astible's delicate flowers bloom from the bottom up. Liatris blooms from the top down. Day Lilies truly are "day" lilies - each blooms for one day only - fortunately each stem holds several blossoms - each opening on a different day so that we can enjoy their color for multiple days. Each day and each flower offers a refreshing delight. You know - that new beginning!

Sipping a cup of coffee at our table or sitting beside the garden brings such joy and peace to our day. Many times, we just sit silent - enjoying the moment and the season.

If you're a gardener, share your thoughts, favorite flowers, and plants. I'd love to hear!
