PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Last week, the SBMC was all about the cars - we had an informative car panel discussion at our regular meeting and the 2nd Annual SBMC Car Show on Saturday.  What a great event it was with 50 classic cars participating in our car show.  Congratulations to Desi Desiderio and his committee for organizing such a successful event!  Many thanks to all our Car Show sponsors and volunteers, especially to Mike Dungey with Nimnicht Chevrolet for being an event sponsor!

This week, the SBMC is all about our Youth Achiever Program. At our meeting this Wednesday, we will be honoring the Pine Forest Elementary School Safety Patrol students and the YAP cookout will be at the school on Thursday, October 4th. I would like to express my gratitude to our Fall YAP sponsors:

Quote of the week: "Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision; the ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives.  It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." -- Andrew Carnegie

MEMBERSHIP CORNER

Like most things in life, what you get out of your SBMC membership will depend mostly on what you put in. Some members are content just to come to lunch occasionally and find a new friend or client every now and then. Other members will invest much more and develop a network of friends and business partners throughout the club.

No doubt, all of us would like to be able to do more for our club. But we have limits on the resources we can contribute - time, money, expertise, etc. One of the most valuable resources we need, you have an almost inexhaustible supply of. Probably the easiest and most valuable thing that any of us can do to benefit the club is to bring a guest along. Your guest will most likely enjoy our meeting and will appreciate your introduction to our club.  I look forward to meeting and getting to know more of your guests at upcoming meetings and introducing you to mine.

CARNIVAL CRUISE RAFFLE

Our first raffle this year, a Carnival Cruise for 2 we acquired from our own Loretta Crescente of Carnival Cruise Lines, is almost over.  The certificate is good for 17 months and has no restrictions.  We will be selling tickets at the meeting or you can purchase them online at www.sbmcjax.com and click on the link on the homepage.  You will have the option of purchasing a single $10 ticket or the 3 for $25.

THE DRAWING IS THIS WEEK AT THE MEETING - DON'T MISS IT!  You do not have to be present to win. We will sell tickets up to 1:00pm and then pull the winning ticket at 1:30pm right before we adjourn.

FALL YAP -- OCTOBER 3rd and 4th

The Fall YAP is upon us! We will be honoring the Pine Forest Elementary School Safety Patrol students at our meeting this Wednesday, October 3rd.

4th ANNUAL JAGUARS SOCIAL -- SOLD OUT

All tickets to the Jacksonville Jaguars against the Chicago Bears game on Sunday, October 7th, are sold out.  Please see Julie Clements at the meeting this week to get your TICKETS and WRISTBANDS.

Tailgating starts at 1:00 PM, the game starts at 4:05 PM. The tailgating will be in the same place as last year at the fairgrounds near the Agricultural building. Look for the big white tent and a large smoker from Players Grille. If you can't find us, please call Julie at 607-0211.

If you are an SBMC member AND have season tickets, you can buy a wristband for $10 to come to the tailgating party. You will need to pay at the meeting on Wednesday so we can let Players Grille know how much extra food we will need. Great deal - party with SBMC members, food, drink and entertainment!
