PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It was great to reunite with our SBMC members last Wednesday after a 2-week break.  Since the new football season is just around the corner, our guest speaker this week is Chad Johnson.  He is the new VP of ticket sales of the Jacksonville Jaguars.  It's hard to believe that we have had the NFL team in Jacksonville for 17 years.  I welcome changes; like many Jags fans, I am excited about a new owner, new head coach and new president, which all creates a new organizational culture.  I hope you will come to the meeting, meet Chad, and get excited about the new football season.

Many of you know that the Club supports our local sports teams - the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sharks, and Suns.  As we have done in the past few years, we've purchased two season tickets for the 2012 Jaguars season. We will be auctioning them at our regular meetings before each home game.

Since we are on the subject of the Jacksonville Jaguars, mark your calendar - our 4th Annual Jags tailgate party will be on Sunday, October 7th.  It's the game against the Chicago Bears and we have bought only 100 tickets.  Our tailgate parties are always a lot of fun, so don't miss out on this great event and buy your tickets as soon as they become available.

Quote of the week: "Football is like life, it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority."

 - Vince Lombardi

Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

Galina Schott,

2012 SBMC President

MEMBERSHIP CORNER

As I follow up with guests who attend our meetings, I ask if they enjoyed their visit and the answer is invariably "Yes".  Some are surprised at how much fun they had attending a business meeting.

I believe camaraderie is one of the best attributes of our group. Please keep bringing guests, encourage them to join, and our great club will continue to grow and prosper.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Everyone loves the SBMC HOLIDAY GALA, and as this is the Club's 80th Anniversary, our event on December 8th will be very special!

In the past, Club members Donn Carr and Hillary Carpenter, have stepped up and made Bar Sponsor donations.  This year, Nancy Bennett of Living Image Photography has generously donated $500 to co-sponsor this year's libations.  However, there is still more to do.

If anyone has the ability left in this year's budget, we would greatly appreciate any help in this regard.  Your generosity will be mentioned on the invitations, before and during the event itself.

Tim Howe,

2012 SBMC 4th Vice President
