PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

"December 7, 1941, a date which will live on in infamy" as stated by President Franklin Roosevelt. December 7, 2011, a date will live on as part of the proud legacy of our club as we will be electing our second woman president in our club's 80 years. I hope everyone will be present at this week's meeting and become a part of history.

As we speak of elections I must let you know that an error was made during the process of nominating candidates from the floor to run for the Board seat which will become open after Wednesday's election. The short version is this; as per our By-laws "should a sitting Board member with an unexpired term be nominated to fill an office, an election for replacement may occur simultaneously. For this to occur the nominations from the floor must occur at the same time that we had nominations from the floor for the officer's and other open Board seats".  We failed to do this so as a result the 3 nominations from the floor from the soon to be vacated Board seat are voided.

This situation is easily correctable and will be handled as follows: Once the election this week' s complete and Patrick Heatherington becomes our Sergeant at Arms, we will have an open 2 year Board seat. As per our By-laws "the vacated Board seat shall be filled for the balance of the unexpired term by nomination and election at the next meeting following the officer's election". Based upon this, and to be sure that we are in compliance with our By-laws, on December 14 we will have nominations from the floor and an election to fill the then open Board seat.

I apologize that this error was made and if we have caused any confusion. Fortunately this is very easily corrected and we will be able to have everyone installed together during the January 4 meeting. Should you have any questions please contact me.

See you Wednesday.

Ken
