PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Fall is finally here, the air is cool, the Fair is going on and we rolled our clocks back an hour. Although I think it is a little early for not one but two radio stations to be playing nothing but Christmas carols. Please don t get me wrong I do like them however we have before Christmas several events and even holidays which are also deserving of our attention.

Here in this newsletter you will find a few of our upcoming events most of which help us raise money to support our Youth Achiever Program, Children's Shopping Spree and our Veteran's.  We need your help to make each of these a success so please find at least one event that you can volunteer some time for and help us in our support of these programs.  Thank You!

If you missed Taylor Hardwick this past Wednesday then you missed a little insight into the history of our club and how we got behind the creation and construction of Friendship Fountain.  Mr. Hardwick received a standing ovation for his presentation as well as for his contributions to Jacksonville.

See you Wednesday,

Ken

BOARD MEETING - NOVEMBER 9TH

Just a reminder to board members and officers, we have a board meeting scheduled immediately following our members meeting on Wednesday.  It is currently scheduled to be held in the Ballroom.

VETERAN'S DAY FLOAT

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!!

Our last meeting to build the float will be November 8th.  We need as many volunteers as possible to complete this project. Please join us at 5:30 on Tuesday evening.

Directions:

From University Blvd., turn south onto Powers Ave.  Go one block and turn left onto University Blvd. Ct.  Follow the street around to the left and park to the left underneath the overpass.  We will be in the warehouse #411-4. Since we will be in a warehouse without a/c, please wear comfortable clothes.  We will be providing food, sodas, water, etc and ask that you bring your favorite adult beverage.

Should you have any questions or problems, please contact Rick Thompson @ 233-0557 or John Hamel @ 887-6805.  Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you there!

FALL YAP COOKOUT - NOVEMBER 17TH

Our cookout will be held at Pine Forest Elementary School on November 17th.  We need volunteers to assemble and serve the meals.

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift and stay the entire time. There is absolutely no drinking in the beer tents. You will need to pay for parking, typically $5 and there should be plenty of spots available in the parking garage adjacent to the Fairgrounds.

We still need volunteers for the following shifts:
