Camp Pendleton Marines Show Their Appreciation & Support |
Pegasus would like to extend its gratitude to all of the Marines at Camp Pendleton (and especially Chaplains Shin, Brown and Hogan) for their support of Pegasus. In excess of 50 active duty Marines have attended three separate "work details" to help maintain and spruce up our barn and paddock areas as well as unload hay into the barn at our March 5th Hay Day. Thank you all for your service to our country and for spending your personal time supporting our project!

Cal State San Marcos Students Return to Pegasus
|
Cal State San Marcos Professor Pam Godde and her spring semester students returned during the months of April and May as part of their Medical Anthropology course curriculum focusing on alternative methods for healing in cultures around the world.
The feedback from Professor Godde and her students is overwhelmingly positive. Pegasus is very pleased to be able to tap into the next generation of mental health professionals and healers so that equine assisted therapy will no longer be viewed as experimental or an alternative, outside the box method of healing.

Successful Springtime at the Valenti Ranch Fundraiser
|

In excess of 125 people attended our March 28th Springtime Fundraiser at the Valenti Ranch which was held at the private estate of Irene Valenti where our herd resides. Pegasus would like to thank everyone who attended the event. In addition, Pegasus would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and extend our deep and heartfelt appreciation to Ms. Valenti for hosting the event at her residence and for her ongoing generosity and support of our project.

Upcoming Fall Fundraiser - Photographers & Artists Needed!
|
It's that time of year again, we are starting to plan for the Pegasus Fall Fundraiser tentatively scheduled for October 1st! This year it will be a Wine & Cheese tasting at our very own barn...rumors of a chocolate fountain have started circulating. A great opportunity for everyone to get together, support the horses we love and meet our fellow volunteers!
Pegasus is in need of local artists and photographers that are interested in donating equine artwork or pictures of local San Diego scenery to be auctioned off to benefit the herd. (Other artwork suggestions are welcome). We are also in need of silent auction items, and additional food & wine donations.
Please contact Teresa Cooney at cooney.teresa@gmail.com if you have any information regarding donations.

Closing Thoughts From Our President
|
I am very proud to report that Pegasus has serviced in excess of 400 participants since the beginning of the 2011 calendar year which puts us squarely on course to reach approximately 750-1,000 participants by the end of the year!
However, our main constraint continues to be funding. While Pegasus works to expand and grow our programs, we have an acute need to acquire a 6-8 passenger van (new or used--we are not picky!) so that we can transport service members to and from our barn. If you know of anyone who may be able to assist us in locating and acquiring an available van, please contact me via email at gadler@pegasusrising.org.
Please remember that Pegasus relies solely on the generosity of our donors to keep our project on course and find it in your hearts to continue to donate to our worthy cause. Word of mouth is always the key to organic growth so don't forget to spread the word to your friends, family and colleagues as we must continue to raise funds in order to reach out to the thousands of returning combat veterans who have served our country with honor and pride.
With gratitude,
Gary Adler, President & CEO The Pegasus Rising Project
