Remembering "The Chief " Leader, Visionary, Entrepreneur, Friend
It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our Chairman of the Board, Robert "Bob" Winzeler, Jr. on Sunday, April 29th. Bob's vibrant journey through life was one filled with integrity, accomplishment, leadership, and a great love for family, friends, and community.
Bob was affectionately known as "The Chief" at Winzeler Stamping Company. It was a title he was given many years ago and accepted with a bit of a wink and a nod. Although Bob's sense of humor was always on display, he never failed to earn the respect of those with whom he came in contact. His business sense, work ethic, intelligence, candor, and integrity culminated to bring success after success for Bob and the Winzeler companies.
Bob led Winzeler Stamping Company as Chairman and CEO from 1970 to 1997. Throughout his career at Winzeler Stamping, his leadership provided vision for innovation and expansion setting the stage for the success we enjoy today. Bob remained involved in the company as Chairman until the time of his death.
An active Ohio State University Alumni, Bob served in various roles on committees and boards at the University. He was also a veteran - having served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force and performed active duty in the Air Material Command from 1955 to 1957. Bob was an active member of the Republican Party holding the position of Republican Central Committee of Ohio, County Committeeman from 1970 to the present; and served under Ronald Reagan in the office of the Governor of California in 1968. He was Republican County Chairman from 1978 through 1988, and then again from 2002 through 2005.
Additionally, Bob held various positions within several state and local organizations. He was on the National Advisory Committee on Health for the American Hospital Association and a member of the development board of the Medical College of Ohio. Bob was a member of the Young President's Organization from 1973 through 1981. Since 1976 he was a trustee of the Ohio Manufacturer's Association, becoming president in 1987. He was also was an elder and finance chairman at the First Presbyterian Church in Montpelier, Ohio.
We at Winzeler Stamping Company will forever be indebted to Bob for the lessons learned through his leadership. Although there were many things he taught us, these few stand out: - Work hard
- Possess and value integrity
- Pursue excellence
- People make the difference
- Choose wisely, but take risks
- Be proud to be an American
- Be generous with both time and treasure
- Laugh --- a lot!
- Cherish loved ones
