The Changing Face of Transportation

Greetings!

Happy Leap Week!

We're sure you've heard these by now, but just in case, here are some random leap day facts:

1) February 29 came to be regarded as the leap day when the Roman system of numbering days was replaced by sequential numbering in the late Middle Ages.QuantumLeap

2) The only notable person known to have both been born and died on February 29 was Sir James Wilson (1812-1880), Premier of Tasmania.

3) February 29, 1960: Family Circus makes its debut.

Early Bird Registration Ends / Ended on March 1! 2012 Banner

Depending on when you read this, early bird registration for the 2012 SDITE / GLDITE Joint Annual Meeting is about to end or has already ended.  Even if you miss the early bird deadline, you can still register for the meeting and it will still be quite the bargain considering that you'll be getting the best in transportation / traffic engineering offered in the state this year.

For this and more, go to http://www.sdite2012.org and share with your friends!!!

Reminder: Special Kentucky Public Agency Registration

Please note that if you're a public agency employee inspecial_offer Kentucky, we are offering a reduced registration rate for public agency / government employees to attend the 2012 SDITE / GLDITE Joint Annual Meeting.  This has not been an option in previous District ITE Meetings and we are very excited to offer this to you.

Please contact Scott Walker for more details if you haven't already received information on this special opportunity.

Sherman Minton Bridge Reopens
Provided by: Billy Garrison (GRW)

The original schedule for the repair of The Sherman Minton Bridge estimated it would take six months to complete. The bridge recently reopened two months earlier than the original schedule and twelve days earlier than the last revised schedule. To read more about this accomplishment click here.

With that in mind, take a few minutes this week to turn that frown upside down and smile a little bit.

Thanks to Sam Hu at the Lexingon Area MPO for sending this to me.
