The Changing Face of Transportation

If you look above, you will notice that we have already changed the name of our newsletter after only 3 editions. The reason is three-fold:

1) We wanted something catchy.

2) Our industry is continually changing -- we want to highlight some of that change when possible.

3) We wanted to feature the theme for the SDITE 2012 Annual Meeting in Lexington.  More on that later!

As always, we look forward to your feedback. Feel free to use anytime to let us know what you think.

KYSITE is on Facebook!

First the e-Newsletter?  And now Facebook?  That's right, we're on Facebook now. KYSITE is trying to take advantage of the technology that is available to communicate with you.

Don't worry, this e-Newsletter will be our primary method of communicating with you and you won't miss out on anything. However, since this is only published every two weeks, we can use Facebook to send out some information in between editions.
Check it out!  We hope you 'like' it!

UK Student Chapter Update Find us on Facebook

The University of Kentucky Student Chapter of ITE (UKITE) will have a presence at the University's annual Engineers Day (E-Day) Open House on Saturday, February 26.  In addition to hosting tours of College of Engineering buildings and laboratories, and presentingstudent projects, the University holds contests intended to spur the imagination and creativity of the young attendees.

For this year's Engineers Day, UKITE will host a competition in which entrants will be required to build a bridge using nothing but newspaper and tape.  Each competitor will begin with an equal amount of building materials and, with

PaperBridgein a limited time and set design specifications, attempt to construct a bridge able to support as large a load as possible.  The bridges will be judged (loaded) by the UKITE members and the entry which supports the heaviest load will win its designer a handsome prize as well as some bragging rights.

This event gives the UKITE members a chance to interact with the next generation of curious young students and to have a positive influence by demonstrating that engineering can be a fun and interesting course of study.
