Animate PowerPoint 2010 for Impact and Readability
Here are 5 key tips for animating PPT 2010 effectively for readabilty and impact - while keeping you and the audience awake and aware of your message and hard work.
1. Use Section Breaks to Your Advantage. Section breaks give both you and your audience a break to rest and regroup. These are also good places to have some objects fading in, different slide transitions, maybe even a sound.
2. Make Bullet Point Animation Consistent. Don't just animate every single bullet point to roll out - and don't put a big list of bullets points up on the screen all at once (the audience will just read ahead of you and get bored). Instead, use the custom animation effect to group bullet points by topic/area and use your with click/mouse feature to "reveal" your points as you make them.
3. Tell a Story with Your Graphics. Just like with the bullet point reveal, use medium speed fade in and appear animation on your flow charts and graphic elements. This will draw the audience in to follow along with you, and will help you to make the right points you were meaning to make.
4. Save the Big Animations for Big Points. Got a big point to make? A "tah-dah" that you want to make on a slide? Use the fly in, flash, grow and shrink effects in custom animation to draw attention to your big point.
5. Don't Time Everything Out. Use your "on mouse click" option to roll out bullet points manually. If you get behind on your timing or someone asks a question, you'll be hard pressed to regroup easily.
