It's Electric!

Greetings!

Happy February! This is a month of noteworthy dates including Leap Year, recognition of National Heart Disease Awareness and the celebration of Valentine's Day, just to name a few.

In this newsletter, we will give you some great news and happenings coming out of Summerall Electric Company and A-C Electric this month, as well as 10 simple steps to reduce waste AND a look into local events and charitable causes in Holli's Corner. Enjoy!

Summerall Electric Company, Inc. and Holli Weatherington are proud to announce that we are officially certified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women's Business Enterprise Council-South (WBEC South).

WBEC

What is a WBE?

A WBE (Women's Business Enterprise) is an independent business concern that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more women who are U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens; and whose management and daily operation is controlled by one or more of the women owners.

What exactly does it mean to be "certified as a WBE"?

Being certified as a WBE means that a business concern has gone through a rigorous and stringent certification process that confirms the business is owned, managed, and controlled by a woman or women.

How does WBENC certification differ from others?

WBENC is the nation's leading third-party certifier of WBEs. In partnership with women's business organizations throughout the U.S., WBENC provides access to a national standard of certification and provides information on certified women's businesses to purchasing managers through its internet database, WBENCLink. WBENC certification is recognized and accepted by the majority of major corporations across the U.S.

At A-C and Summerall Electric companies, we promote WASTING LESS, which alone can make your office or home greener.  In honor of taking a Green Leap forward this Leap Year,  below are some SIMPLE steps you can individually take to waste less, reuse more and be greener in general.

One person can make a difference!

  2. Recycle. Recycle. Recycle.
  3. Set your water heater to 120 degrees and add a water heater blanket.

HOLLI'S CORNER

This year, in honor of Valentine's Day and all things lovely, I had the pleasure of attending the Memphis Child Advocacy Center's annual Works of Heart silent auction.  It is a wonderful event where local artists create a work of art - with a heart template as their muse.

All of the proceeds from the auction benefit the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, which serves children who have been victims of sexual abuse, and works to educate families and communities on preventing abuse.

From sculptures to paintings to jewelry, the creativity of the "heartists" is always an impressive and touching sight.

In honor of heart month and the month of love, this February we want to support the Memphis Child Advocacy Center, as well as the American Heart Association.

Finally, I wanted to share wiht you a local blog that posts great information on upcoming events and community happenings.  Get more involved in your community and realize how great of town Memphis really is!
