COMEC: A Worthy Cause This Season
At The Commission on Missing and Exploited Children (COMEC), it is all about children and the issues that affect them. Today's world is filled with challenges for families.
Some are familiar, such as truancy, and others like Internet safety that are new territory for everyone.
For over 23 years, COMEC has identified and instituted programs that help children and those who are charged with their care.
Promoting the safety and protection of all children and connecting families is what this local organization is all about.
Here are a few facts:
- COMEC's Director, Sgt. Len Edwards, is the West TN Regional Amber Alert Coordinator. The AMBER Alert is used only in the event of an abductino of a child, not if they are simply missing.
- You can get Amber Alerts sent to your phone. Simply enter your zipcode to http://wirelessamberalerts.wirelessfoundation.org/.
- A recent NCMEC study of 4,200 child abductions that occurred from 2005 until 2010 revealed the following: 38% of abductions occurred while child was walking home from school alone 37% of abductions occurred between 2:00pm-7:00pm 43% of victims were between the ages of 10-14 years of age 72% of victims were female 68% of abductions involved the use of a vehicle In only 16% of the attempted abductions did an adult step in and intercede.
COMEC relies on donations from individuals and businesses to survive!

Holli Weatherington, president of Summerall Electric, is a COMEC board member and is asking for your support to bring more attention to this worthy cause that too often goes unnoticed and unrewarded.
Another GREAT way to help spread the word:

Good grades for A-C Electric Co., Inc. on Angie's List!!
September 2011 report: A+
I had two electrical issues. One was a very old defective light switch and another was an exterior line that was tripping the breaker when I turned it on. A-C setup an appointment that was just a day out and showed up on time. The electrician quickly fixed the light switch. Next he worked very hard to troubleshoot some old and incorrectly installed lines, then found that the outside line was a problem in the ground.
He did a great job for a very fair price considering the difficulty of the job.

November 2011 report: A+
Wonderful! Very quick. Friendly and Professional. Noticed the other light was hanging lower than the new one and asked if we wanted that one shortened--we didn't even ask--he took it upon himself to ask and took care of it. We finally found a contractor--and we've had plenty--from AC to painters, etc.... in our home over the years, and this is truly the first one that did their job RIGHT for a reasonable price. We definitely will use them again for future electric jobs.
