Fruits of the Spirit Feed Souls, and More

A special thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for all their hard work to make the SonHarvest County Fair Vacation Bible School such a great success. It was all about the fruits of the Spirit, and it would not have been possible without so many willing hearts and hands to do whatever it took to share Christ with the children. More than 60 volunteers worked to give nearly 90 children a chance to experience God's word through song, play, craft, drama, and even snacks. After our closing program, enjoyed by Bible School attendees and their families, we held our own Go Hog Wild County Fair.

In the spirit of our VBS theme, the children collected donations for the work of Heifer International (www.heifer.org), which provides farm animals, seeds, water systems, and lessons in how to care for and benefit from them to people in need of sustenance around the world - including the United States. The children raised $922, then an extraordinary anonymous donor contributed $5,000, raising the total to $5,922!

A heartfelt thank you to you all! ~ Cathy Newton

Fairmount Neighborhood Enjoys a Night Out at FPC

hawley heglar at neighborhood event

On Tuesday, August 2, First Presbyterian Church hosted a Neighborhood Night Out for our neighbors in the Fairmount area. Booths lined the walkway in our front yard, and 300 to 400 people enjoyed live music, disc golf, and refreshments. The event was a cooperative venture among many social service agencies, the Boy Scouts, FPC, and the City of Bristol, TN. We thank all the volunteers who represented our church so well!

Thank you to all for helping to maintain our church lawn! Your gift of time is very important, and your service to the church, community, and God is greatly appreciated by many.

Below are the weddings and other special events currently scheduled for the summer. Please do not mow at all during the hours listed unless other instructions are noted. If you have any questions, please contact Betsy Galliher during business hours at 423-764-7176.

Please keep in mind that the custodians work early on Fridays and do not work on Saturdays. Therefore, if you mow after Friday morning, you may need to use the leaf blower to clear the sidewalks.

Desperately Seeking Gardeners
Our church needs a few good men and women to help maintain our beautiful courtyard. Many weddings and other events are scheduled over the next several weeks, and we want to look our best for our guests and congregants. We need extra hands to trim, prune, and weed one or two hours a week. If your schedule is too full for a weekly commitment, we would welcome you with open arms whenever you can manage it. We provide the tools..Please call Tom Daniel for details at 423-764-7677.

BFIA Needs Diapers for Local Children

The Evangelism & Outreach Committee is requesting donations of diapers for Bristol Faith in Action. BFIA has an urgent need for diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6, but especially sizes 4 and 5. Please drop off your donations at the Little Red House. The E&O Committee will deliver the diapers to BFIA. Thank you!
