Spring conference days

packed with forums, skill-building sessions

Mark these dates on your calendar: March 23-24. That's when the 2012 Spring Regional Conference takes place, this time in Lansing, Mich., for the area known as District 4. Our district includes all of Ohio as well as Western Pennsylvania, West Virgina and Michigan.

I encourage you to see the regionals as a fun weekend away. It's a chance to get a critical mass of journalists together at wonderful programs we all will find interesting, plus some fun events where you can network and socialize with colleagues from four states. We usually have special programs aimed at students as well as skill-renewing workshops for professionals.

Prepare for the drive and an overnight stay, if you can manage it, because this is a really good event. The title is sure to change, because right now it's the world's most most boring name for one of SPJ's most interesting events of the year! We will keep you posted as the programming people firm up what they'll be offering.
