Deadline For Next Edition: Sept. 13

President's Message
Carrie Buchanan
If you were not able to make it to Tuesday's program by filmmaker and broadcaster Mike Walter, you missed something really special. Despite the grim topic - journalists who cover trauma and suffer the emotional aftereffects - Walter is an upbeat guy with great stories to tell and a style that's entertaining. Most of all, he is candid and open about his own experiences and, in his film, he gets that kind of candidness from colleagues.

In fact, many people did miss Tuesday's program. The crowd was small, and this was also true of the Press Club's event the following day. It may be that people are getting enough of the 9-11 anniversary on television, radio, in newspapers and online.

But the experience of putting on programs that people don't attend - as well as many that they do attend - has made us want to ask our members exactly what they DO want: what types of programs do you prefer, where and when you want them to take place, and whether there's something different they want us to be doing as an organization.

So we're going to send a survey to members, and we hope you'll take five minutes to answer it. It's basically going to ask those questions. It will be five minutes well spent, for you and for us. Watch for it in your email; we hope to get it out in the coming week.

If you would like to communicate with me personally about this issue, just send an email. I'm happy to hear from you anytime!
