State Budget Agreement Restores Funding for Senior Centers

The New York State budget agreement announced Sunday will restore the $25 million cut to Title XX, used by the City to fund  Senior Centers.  This is a significant victory for us and older adults throughout New York and we want to thank everyone for rallying around this cause and showing their support.  Senior Center Members, Neighborhood House Board Members, community supporters and hundreds more joined together to demand these critical services for seniors. Our 70th Street Senior Center, the largest in the East Side of Manhattan and the only Senior Center open seven days a week, helps hundreds of older adults every day in our beautiful, light-filled building and provides an unparalleled array of educational, social, arts, nutritional, legal, health, mental health and fitness activities from our expert settlement house staff. Click here to read more about the state budget.

Movin' On Up: New Elevator in Our Headquarters

We're so excited to announce that our new elevator has been completed and is now in use! This is such a huge achievement--and 83 years in the making!  This is so critical for us as an organization and for the thousands who come each week for help. Come see us and take a ride.

ECC Olympics

Butterfly and Sunflower Classrooms "Go for the Gold" in Their Olympic Games

40 4-year-olds in our Butterfly and Sunflower Classrooms held their very own Olympic Games! Children marched into our gym to Olympic-themed music wearing tie-dye shirts they made and carrying Olympic "torches." They participated in many events including an egg race, obstacle course, hurdles, a drawing contest and tug-a-war while cheering on their teammates with home-made pom-poms. Children and teachers fueled up between events with healthy snacks and all the children received gold medals at the award ceremony. View more pictures on our Facebook page.
