Greetings!

Believe it or not, we are halfway through November already!  That means the countdown to Christmas is on...Light dusting of snow
We woke up to snow on the ground, rooftops and vehicles last week and it was really kind of exciting.  My son ran outside and declared he was the 'first human to walk in snow'.  It put me in a real holiday decorating mood and reminded me that it will be much easier - on my fingers - to hang garland and lights now, than if I wait until it gets any colder!

The Fresh Greens, Wreaths and Roping are all in, and the Annual Parade of Poinsettias is on this weekend - a great way to kick off the holiday season...

Family Flowers Parade of Poinsettias - November 17-19, 2011
Poinsettia Tree
Join us for our Annual Parade of Poinsettias this Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

It is a beautiful sight - the greenhouses filled from end to end with thousands of vibrant poinsettias.
The Open House runs from 9am-5:30pm, with free coffee, cider and Spicer's donuts as well as 20% off all poinsettias!
There's lots more going on for the family too click here for your invitation
and don't forget your camera!
How to Care for Your Poinsettia
Poinsettia Crop
With the proper care, your poinsettias can last year after year!  There are a few tips for care to remember:
  1. Keep Poinsettias warm - don't put them in a trunk or leave them in the car while you run errands.
  2. Keep Poinsettias evenly moist.
  3. Keep Poinsettias in a bright location.
  4. Read on for more information - click here
  5. And no - Poinsettias are not poisonous!

Winter Urn Seminar - Saturday, November 26  11am
Making an urn insert
Need some help with your decorating?  Join us for the Winter Urn Seminar next Saturday.  The seminar is about 1 hour long - but you may stay as long as you like and the cost is $35 - which includes all the supplies and hands on instruction to make your own urn insert or hanging basket.  And you take your creation home with you!
Register in the greenhouse, or phone 519-631-6004 or email jacklyn@familyflowers.ca .
So just bring yourself (and a friend if you like) and we will have everything here for you!  See you then!

I hope you are getting excited about the upcoming holiday season, and if you need any inspiration - feel free to stop by Family Flowers anytime for a nice peaceful wander through the poinsettias and trees.  Try not to get caught in the 'hustle and bustle' at this time of year, just relax and remember the real reason for the season.

See you at the Parade of Poinsettias this weekend.

Sincerely,

Jacklyn Versnick
