Why the Web?
Reason #21
Your Staff Stays Focused on Patients, Not Computers

Let's do a quick review of objectives before we continue. The purpose of your practice and your staff is two fold: 1) To provide exceptional care and service to the community; 2) To build a successful practice.

If you and your team are hampered by server issues, worried about keeping hardware compatible with your software, have your IT guy on speed dial, and have one person dedicated and responsible for data backup... well, isn't that a distraction?

Yes, it is! With Web-based dental software you'll be able to stay focused on numero uno: Your practice. Curve Dental strives to deliver a better dental software experience. If you call us today and speak to one of our dental software experts you can ask and learn more about the peace, tranquility and butterflies that come to those that manage their practice on-line.

Leadership: One More to Grow on...
Katherine Eitel
Katherine Eitel

Power Thought: Katherine Eitel and Associates

My Dad used to tease my sister and me growing up that we had to get our "birthday spankings" every year on our birthday.   If these weren't gently given with much ado which included chasing, laughing, and teasing, they usually ended up being "hugs" or "kisses" instead.  But whatever form they took, we always got one for every year of our new age plus... "One more to grow on."

In an earlier tip, I speak about "Staying in the Zone" when it comes to leadership (Click here to read it). Consider these five questions to stay in the zone of success:

  1. What is my "Success of the Day?"
  2. What do I need to let go of?
  3. What am I creating?  (And what small step can I take towards its creation?)
  4. Where am I the victim vs. the victor?
  5. For what am I grateful?
However, after a conversation I had with corporate leadership coach, Ian McKelvie, I'd like to give you one more to grow on!

Question #6: Where am I not "at choice"?

Great leaders respond to circumstances and people versus reacting to them.  This means they are "at choice," purposeful, and conscious with their responses instead of simply passively reacting.   This idea of operating "at choice" removes us from the victim position and places us firmly in the position of creating our own experience.  We choose how we view, interpret, feel, respond, and learn from every experience presented to us.

Ian said in our interview, "In the darkest of times in my own personal leadership, I know I am only 2 or 3 choices away from the world I say I want.  There is power in knowing that I'm not at the mercy of the world but that it actually bends to the choices I make about my experience of it.  And the most powerful of all positions is to be "at choice"... even when there is only one choice."  Think Nelson Mandela.  Being "at choice" when there is only one choice.

Leadership requires being "at choice" at all times and choosing your internal experience, and your responses to others, regardless of the external circumstances.

Diagnose, photograph, "Show and ASK."  Show the patient their corroded filling times ten magnification and ASK: "Does your black crumbly filling ever bother you?" Show blue looking premolar and ASK: "Have you ever noticed that when you smile this tooth looks grey and old?"  ASK: "Were you aware that there is infection that goes down 6 millimeters below your gum?"  If the patient does not say "YES" today, print the picture on photo paper and give it to them with a simple paragraph about the problem and the solution.

A Fresh Web-based Approach to Managing Your Practice
Marty Jablow, DMD

Pre-recorded Webinar: Dr. Marty Jablow

Dr. Marty Jablow, author of the Dental News and Technology Blog, dives deep into why the Web may make sense for your practice in this informative webinar available at DentalTown.

"You can do just about anything online these days --shopping, banking, trading stocks, making travel arrangements, etc. -- so why not manage your practice the same way?" asks Dr. Jablow. "Using the Web is just a part of the modern lifestyle. Leveraging the Web to manage your practice makes sense for the following reasons:

"First, it's more convenient. With the Web you can access your data from anywhere or anytime, with little to no effort or setup.

"Second, the Web will save you time. The setup and training needs are significantly diminished when your practice uses a Web-based software.

"Third, you'll save money. When all you need is a computer with Internet access and a browser, you'll lower your IT costs.

"Fourth, you can use any operating system. If you like Apple, prefer PC it doesn't matter. All you need is a computer with Internet access and a browser.

Dr. Jablow will discuss the common concerns that doctors may have with the Web, from security to connectivity to reliability, or what is commonly called F.U.D., or Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.
