Marysvale Chamber Announces E-Newsletter
Chamber Releases First Edition

mainstreet Dear Friends,

We are excited to launch the first Marysvale Chamber of Commerce e-newsletter.   We hope we can provide you with good information and some interesting insight into the little town we all call home.  As many of you know Marysvale is situated at the Exact Center of the ATV Universe at the Heart of the Paiute Trail.  The Paiute is the largest trail system in the United States and boasts the best riding on the planet.  Don't forget we also are the home to great hospitality and friends that last a lifetime.  We hope you enjoy the newsletter and hope you will visit us often.

Sincerely,

Darin Bushman
Marysvale Chamber President
Did you Just Claude Moore Me?

Everyone in my family knows what this means and maybe you do too.   A WWII Vetran Claude P. Moore was a long time Marysvale resident and one of our most famous cast members.   Claude had the gift of gab and often would start the conversation with himself long before entering your presence.  As a boy working in the store in Marysvale(in the current Tug's Location) I recall Claude walking in mid stream of our conversation.   "I think I will paint it red, there is a small dent on the right side but not a big deal to me, but I hate Blue, Blue is a hideous color,  Do you think it will look good painted Red?".  Not having been part of the previous conversation I was totally confused.  As it turns out Claude had found an old pickup, it was blue and he had purchased it and was going to paint it red.   All too often the conversations with Claude started long before you were involved.... so next time your thoughts become verbal after having had that long conversation in your head, with yourself, you will know that was a Claude Moore moment.  Claude is greatly missed here in Marysvale.

Did you know that Marysvale is the Home of the Oldest Running Hotel/Inn in the State of Utah??

Moore's Old Pine Inn

oldpine Originally built in 1882, Moore's Old Pine Inn (then called The Pines Hotel) is the oldest running Hotel/Inn in the State of Utah.

The Pines Hotel has had guests of western influence including outlaw Butch Cassidy and western writer Zane Grey, who wrote "Riders of the Purple Sage" while staying here. New York Times Newspapers from 1882 are still glued to the rafters.

In 1869, two prospectors found waterfalls, gold and the mysterious remains of an old arrastra (possibly Spanish in origin) and the Bullion Canyon gold rush began. Marysvale was also at the end of the historic Denver and Rio Grand Railroad making Marysvale both a railroad and gold mining town.

In 1993, the Inn was purchased current Owners/Innkeepers Randy & Katie Moore. They spent (2) years doing renovation work paying great detail to detail and decorating themes. They rented their first rooms inside the Inn in August of 1995 and have been building a growing guest base every year since.

Precipitation at 107%

snowpic
Precipitation is at 107% of normal.  Some parts of the Basin have experienced 229% of normal  It's been a long winter for those of us that stick around for the cold and frozen part of the year.   We are now entering our fifth season in Marysvale, in case you were wondering it's called Mud Season.  We should have a beautiful spring and the farmers are getting excited to possibly raise a third crop of Alfalfa.   Hopefully all this snow doesn't delay the opening of the 01 Trail too much.
