Electric Metering Technician & Steamfitters Go Green! - Two additional trades have been greened through the SAGE (Sector Alliance for the Green Economy) grant. The trades affected are Electric Metering Technician and Steamfitters.
Electric Metering Technician apprentices will benefit from changes to the curriculum and purchase of equipment. Lab assessment activities for smart grid test boards have been developed to upgrade the curriculum for apprentices and peripheral equipment for the smart grid test boards has been purchased. Training recipients will have access to this new equipment and receive instruction through Mid-State Technical College.
Curriculum changes and instructor training have also completed "greening" the Steamfitter apprenticeship program. Apprentices belonging to the Tri City Steamfitters and the Wausau Steamfitters will benefit from this upgrade to their trade.

DWD & Sean Duffy Partner to Host Job Fair - People packed the Rothschild Pavilion from wall to wall. Many employers were looking for workers and many more people were looking to get hired. There was barely room to walk around the pavilion, where about 1,200 people stopped in search of a new career path. Some have been laid off. Others are just trying to get their foot in the door. But all have a common goal--steady paycheck.
The event, held in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and Congressman Sean Duffy, in what they call a continuing effort to put Wisconsinites back to work, hosted over 100 employers from sectors as diverse as construction, retail, medical, manufacturing, and sales.
