videoVideoStatewide Video Conference Workshop-Conference Training Workshops now Available at Job Centers Thoughout State -  A new, statewide videoconferencing system allows job-seekers to get free training from throughout the state without ever leaving their communities. Roughly a dozen people participated at the Marathon County Job Center for the first statewide video conference on September 8, 2011, but officials expect that number to increase as word spreads about the workshops.  The system offers Job Center staff a way to tap into workshops held regularly at other sites throughout the state. The types of workshops vary, but include topics such as resume writing and interviewing skills.  "If there's a good workshop going on starting from Madison, we can join in and participate in that," said John Cokl, Finance Director at NCWWDB. transitionTransition Center Open HousePlover's NewPage Transition Center Hosts Customer Appreciation Open House - The NewPage Transition Center, in Plover, hosted a Customer Appreciation/Open House event on September 29th. During a brief program, LETC Program Manager, Cindy Kiesling welcomed attendees and explained how the Transition Center came into existence. Since the closing of the Stevens Point Job Center, job seekers in the area were forced to travel to centers in other cities to receive services. When NewPage closed it doors, Kiesling learned that 60 percent of the workers resided in the Stevens Point and Plover area.  Kiesling said, "A sense of obligation to at least try to bring some services back to these workers in the Stevens Point area sparked the idea of the Transition Center." Click HERE to read entire article and to view photos of the event.  Back to top
