Through the ARRA/WIA Adult Program, Eric Holmblad pursued training in Law Enforcement and recently began employment with the Adams County Sheriff's Department as a County Jailer/Corrections Officer, working 40 hours per week.  Quoting Eric's words in gratefulness for the ARRA program, "I cannot thank the ARRA program enough for giving me the opportunity to train into a different field so I could find a job and take care of my family." RonschnyderRon Schnyder Recognized for his Dedication and Service to the North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board - Retiring Board member, Ron Schnyder was recently presented with a certificate of appreciation by the North Central WI Workforce Development Board's Chairperson, Kent Olson.  Schnyder was awarded his certificate during the Board's quarterly meeting at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau. wausaubearingsNorthcentral Technical College & Waukesha Bearings Partner to Train Machinists in Antigo - "Skilled machinists make a good living, and this is a fantastic opportunity to get started on a career as a machinist," said Larry Kind, NTC Antigo Campus Dean.  NTC will accept 15 students to the January 2011 Machine Tool Operation Technical Diploma program, and Waukesha Bearings will select up to five of those individuals to work in their Antigo facility.  Get more information here.  Back to top

October 2010, Wisconsin unemployment rate - 7.0% (unadjusted); 7.8% (seasonally adjusted)
 
October 2010 unemployment rate for our nine-county  NCWWDB area:  7.3% (unadjusted); the highest being Lincoln with 9.5% unemployment
 (4highest in the state)
 and the lowest being Portage with 5.7%
(61th highest in the state)
 
There were 6 *WARN notices given in WDA 6 during the period of  
January 1, 2010 thru November 19, 2010. 

*WARN is a required communication for those employers with 50 or more employees.  Employers with fewer than 50 employees
may have laid people off
during this time.  
  
WIAreportWIA Training Report
For the Program Year 2010 that started July 1, 2010 NCWWDB has 222 Youth, 305 Adults, and 937 Dislocated Workers enrolled in WIA Title 1 funded programs.  
 
  To date, 64 Opportunity Grants have been awarded to 55 Adults.  The Opportunity Grant Program has been extended into 201l.
