Cindy Kiesling, Director, WI AFL-CIO, LETC, (pictured on right) was awarded the Patriot Award by the ESGR, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. LETC Employment Specialist, Bob Bauer (center) nominated Kiesling for the award after his return from service and his welcome back to his position with LETC. Bauer served as a Staff Sargent, Howitzer Section Chief, Liason Officer for task force 134 Multi National Forces in Iraq. Captain Daniel Hendershot, Commander of Bravo Commision Battery 1st-120th Field Artilery, 32nd (Red Arrow) Briggade Infantry Combat Team along with Tom Thomas, Representative WI ESGR, recently honored Kiesling with the award. Her committmant to Bauer during his training and deployment, as well as his successful reentry to the workplace, was commended by the military personnel.  | |

Doyle Announces Additional Assistance for Dislocated Workers at Greenheck Fan in Schofield - Governor Jim Doyle recently announced that workers displaced at the Greenheck Fan Corporation in Schofield are eligible to apply for additional re-employment and training services under the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program.  On-the-Job Training National Emergency Grants to Assist Displaced Workers - Governor Doyle recently announced that close to $2.3 million in federal funding will help over 300 displaced Wisconsin workers find new jobs and improve their skills.  New NLRA Posting Requirements for Federal Contractors - USDOL recently published a final rule in the Federal Register, which requires covered federal contractors and subcontractors to inform employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). The final rule which became effective June 21, 2010, specifies that covered entities post this notice in conspicuous places in and about the contractor's plants and offices.  Senate Fails to Advance Tax Extenders Bill to Extend Unemployment Benefits - Senate Democrats on Thursday failed for a third time to advance legislation to extend unemployment benefits through November.  $6.6 Million Grant to Significantly Expand Access, Resources for Healthcare Careers DOL has announced that the American Association of Community Colleges will receive a $6.6 million grant to fund development of a Healthcare Virtual Career Platform for managing entry into more than 200 healthcare careers - from career exploration, to assessment, training and job placement. Statistics Report
May 2010, Wisconsin unemployment rate - 7.7% (unadjusted); 8.2% (seasonally adjusted)
May 2010 unemployment rate for our nine-county NCWWDB area: 8.1% (unadjusted); the highest being Lincoln with 9.9% unemployment
(6th highest in the state)
and the lowest being Portage with 6.6% (58th highest in the state)
There were 4*WARN notices given in WDA 6 during the period of January 1, 2010 thru June 23, 2010.

WIA Training Report
For the Program Year 2009 (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010) NCWWDB has 392 Youth, 306 Adults, and 1,034 Dislocated Workers enrolled in WIA Title 1 funded programs.
Of the above numbers, there have been 224 Youth, 123 Adults and 212 Dislocated Workers served by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.
