One-on-one Business Development Consultations Available A representative from the Small Business Development Center of Hampton Roads is available by appointment to meet with business owners and prospective business owners on a one-on-one basis at the Chamber of Commerce office. SBDC consultations are one of the services available through the Chamber office to help guide business owners through the many issues of entrepreneurship. There is no charge for this service. Discover Scenic Ireland with the Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce Trip
On October 27th a Chamber delegation will travel from Norfolk to Shannon, Ireland and transfer to the 5-star Adare Manor Villa for 6 nights. The nearby Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort is known for the Adare Golf Club's championship golf course, which was commissioned by the Earl of Dunraven in the 1890's and features the design of renowned Eddie Hackett.
Guests will stay in the Adare Villa's, ideally located within a 15 minute walk from the Manor house which is set in the heart of an 840 acre estate. Those taking the journey will have the opportunity to visit many famous sites in addition to walking the town of Adare, a special place. Business Appreciation Week Luncheon June 7th
The Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Isle of Wight County Department of Eonomic Development invite you to join them at a Virginia Business Appreciation Week Luncheon on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from noon to 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Smithfield Center.

Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department Benefit Concert
Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department will host it's monthly "Firehouse Bluegrass" music benefit concert Friday, May 18, 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station-10, 15020 Carrollton Blvd., Carrollton.
$5 admission for the featured entertainment: Mark Templeton and Pocket Change who will play gospel and traditional bluegrass with their awesome vocals and instrumental skills.
Proceeds benefit the all-volunteer fire/rescue service of Carrollton and nearby mutual aid districts in Smithfield and northern Suffolk. Your donations to this non-profit all-volunteer department serve the community by enabling the purchase of needed medical, rescue and fire fighting supplies and equipment.
Fire Station-10 is located on Route 17 between the Crittenden and James River Bridges. Hot dogs and soft drinks are available during the concert. Please bring your own chair. Further info at 757-613-6183. |

Recognizing Excellence at Dominon Power
Dominion has honored 12 employees as "Volunteers of the Year" from six states. The volunteers gave of their time and talent in prison ministry, youth mentorship, renovation projects and various other programs that improve people's lives. They were selected by a panel of community leaders and join more than 270 previous honorees.
Our three local winners are Tommy Daughtry, Harold Jones, and Linda O'Neal. We thank you for your hard work and commitment to our community. |

2nd annual Luter Family YMCA art show and sale
LOVE ART? The 2nd annual Luter Family YMCA art show and sale will be held at the Y May 9-12 (the week before Mother's Day). Art makes a great gift for mom! We are accepting art donations (any medium painting, photography, sewing, sculpture, knitting, etc.) for our sale and 100% of the proceeds will go to our Strong Communities Scholarship Program!
Please submit paintings and photography in a mat, frame or on a canvas. Art donations are tax-deductible.

Historic Project Runway: Tea and Fashion Show at Boykin's Tavern
Through the ages, many ladies have come through the doors of Boykin's Tavern wearing everything from hoop skirts and corsets to hats, high-collared shirts and dresses with trains.
Reminisce with us from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, as you enjoy a leisurely afternoon of tea and noshes when some of these ladies will show off the fashions of different eras.
Cost is $15 per person. Reservations are required.

World of Wheels Auto Show May 12th

Historic St. Luke's Host Heritage Day June 16 and Gospel Concert June 17
Celebrate our community heritage with two days of events at Historic St. Luke's Church. Heritage Day on Sat., June 16 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. will feature history told through stories, writings, quilts, colonial court, land ownership, music, food, and our flora and fauna environment. Come tour "Old Brick" and hear its history. Tell your family stories (and your remembrances of St. Luke's) and have them recorded. Learn about Colonial, African American and Native American cultures. Hear stories about the Quaker settlers which developed from St. Luke's Church, as well as the congregations that began elsewhere in our county. Take a wagon ride on the Old Colonial Trail. Watch the Plein Air painters on the grounds. Learn to trace your genealogy. Come for a fun day with activities for the whole family.
