Greetings!
I had an opportunity this past week to take my Grandson shopping for a quilt he has asked me to make. How things change from year to year. Last year Noah asked me where he was on my list for making quilts. I pointed out I had quite a few that I needed to finish and then I asked him if he had an idea of what he wanted. He quickly took me to his room and showed me his Minnesota Vikings helmet with strict instructions it needs to be purple and gold with a white swish in the corners. This year when I mentioned we needed to go to the Quilt Store to get the fabrics he was very satisfied with me doing that alone since I had good judgment in fabric choices. Needless to say I knew if I wanted his help it was going to have to be a quick shopping trip. We had our opportunity Wednesday before going to Adventureland and I'm happy to say with the great help of quilting shop friends we were in and out of the shop in less than 40 minutes. The quickest fabric selection I have ever done. We are so fortunate to have great quilt shops in our surrounding area. Noah thought it was very cool that the clerks were well versed in Minnesota Vikings trivia as well! It's a great memory and I'm so glad we found the time to take this little excursion. He's pretty proud of those fabrics and I can't wait to get started.
Memories-Friendship-Creativity, that is what quilting is about for me. I am blessed with many friends and family that may not sew but they appreciate the time and talents put into these gifts of love. So too, although we probably will not meet or know the Veterans or those receiving Community Support gifts--it is uplifting to me to know that it is all done out of love and respect for those who do not have this talent. I am in awe after each meeting of your generosity and the give, give, give attitude of each of you. There are years I do not produce anything to give but other years I am able to achieve quite a lot. I always know when it is meant to be because the time is opened up and zwa la a finished product shines back at me.
See you at the AUCTION!!! I am busy cleaning my quilting shelves. It's like a shopping trip by itself but I'm so glad to have an opportunity to share those gadgets, patterns, and fabrics that I no longer have a need for.
